I think Laine can thrive in the right environment, but some things need to fall into place for him in order for that to be feasible. People suggesting he can't deal with a pressure environment don't know what they're talking about. He has had his entire nation's eyes on him since he was a teenager. That is not the issue.

The Habs have done well with reclamation projects so far. Depending on what the cost, I'd go for it. As for Laine's personal struggles, Montreal patiently worked with Mailloux regarding his legal issues and education regarding respect for women, and they have experience dealing with players in the NHL substance abuse program thanks to Price. I think the culture at Montreal is different now. It's orientated around players, especially the younger generation and their need for time away from the spotlight. It might not be as bad in Montreal for Laine as you think.

Im with u Bro, u nailed it. However, if the price is right... If Columbus will retain some salary, and take the right pieces off our hands, a deal could be made. For example, if they'd take Anderson, Harris, and Wpg's 1st rounder, that we got from the Monahan deal, plus retain $3m a season, then that might be hard to pass up. But ur so right, trying to find his game again, in Montreal, might not be the best idea, maybe the pressure will help him stay focused and on track. I just dont want to bring anyone in that's going to fuck with the chemistry in the room, everyone seems to like everyone, and one person can totally change that dynamic. I am excited about what's going to happen at the draft!!! Go Habs Go!!! Make smart picks (goal scoring forwards), and trade Wpg's pick for help now, or use the pick, im good either way.

We have no choice other than spending to the cap because we need to activate the LTIR for Price.. the cap just increased and we’ve let of guys like Allen, Pearson and the Alzner cap hit is finally over too.. so we actually need to take on salary otherwise we would need to trade Price.. Laine is the perfect risk. Only 2 years on his deal.. if the habs decide not to resign him, they can deal him at the deadline.. on the other hand, he might become a keeper.. short story long; we need to spend to the cap or trade price.. facts but no one’s really seeing that side of it

#5 pick and Anderson for the #4 pick and Laine. No money retained on either side. Same money for either side, but less term for MTL. Exchange of picks to make up for Laine's history, player assistant program, etc, etc. Solves everyone's problems, 2 problem players moved out. Gets us free of Anderson's cap hit a year earlier(2yrs at $8.5 vs 3yrs at $5.5). If Marty can't snap him back to his former self, likely no one can. Worth a shot IMHO 2nd line of Laine Dach Newhook.

But then there is the part left over that says he has been a big mouth since before he was drafted and a dressing room problem since he was drafted. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place for what I would do. BUT, BUUUUT I have faith in our trader miracle maker so whatever he decides to do I am going to cross my fingers and wish him the best. I am thinking I maybe should load up on some of his rookie cards now since they are pretty much worthless and then if he blows us out of the water by making it huge in a Habs uniform then I will look like a genius just like our genius GM

Yes I saw a lot, and I mean a lot of Lazy Lazy Laine being from Manitoba. This is a lose lose lose concept from Montreal. No PP specialist and massive liability everywhere else is worth close to 8.7 Mil/season. You would be throwing away a rebuild that is still going in the right direction for little to no return. The only contract as bad as Laine is PLD. The Jets won that trade day 1 and now it is a fleece job since PLD was shipped to LA. He will never be a 40 goal scorer again, never.

Laine is a Monahan situation. Marc-Antoine Godin is right. If Waddell wants to get rid of the entire contract, he could accept to switch draft pick with us and we take the thing whole.

Playing in Winnipeg or Ohio would make anyone want to start drinking. Trade Price's contract and throw in Dvorak.
