Best diesel truck for long-term. Straight six easier to maintain and half cost to repair. Water pump replacement few hours vs 8 on v8 diesel. No fan removal like v8 requires. When head gasket fails, 1 to replace vs 2 on v8.

Great video. I own a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7L (owned it since 2012) with 122,000 miles. I remember being loyal Ford guy, because of my grandfather & father. Up until I brought my Ford F-250 6.0. The dodge has had a few problems but nothing that caused me to pour money into it to keep it running, ie. Ford 6.0L. We love our Ram and hope it will be with us for another 10 years.

Pre Def diesels trucks will always be generally more reliable .. if it were me and money was no object . I'd buy a brand new Ram HD Diesel and delete all the emissions junk instantly . I could do this because my area that I live in has no laws or emission testing .

Tim, All in all this Ram has had a pretty easy life. If Dan ever decides to sell it, I am sure he will get a very good price.

If he trades it in he will get around 20k or so for it. I just bought a '12 Ram 2500 a lot like his and paid 30k for it.

What you said about doing research for your article on recalls, it is not the recall itself but the quality and substance of recall. I am doing the same on a piece of hardware (non-automotive related) and while not called 'recall', looking at the history of problems and knowing these 50 things were really just hit and miss things that were just in case vs these 2 things that were actual problems - that is how this company has made purchases for years and its worked very well. But - one has to be looking for the detail.

Completely agree. I just did this actually with a story I just published on buying a first-year truck with digging deep into the actual reasons for the recall. I'm going to dig a bit deeper on my HD post before I shoot a video on it.

Stuff replaced under warranty/recall doesn't make vehicle unreliable.

The thing I find interesting is that it sits in his laneway 99% of the time. No different than 95% of people that don't need a pickup truck. At least he admits he doesn't need it.

Not sure what features were available in 2010 but I didn’t see lots of electronics (touch screen), heat/AC seats, etc.. Fewer bells and whistles, less headaches.

The California weight fees are crazy. I still have to pay the weight fee even though the GVWR of my truck is 5,800 lbs. Every truck regardless of weight is automatically assumed to be for commercial purposes in CA, assigned a commercial plate, and charged an annual weight fee.
