Did Cecil cover that already? I have the distinct memory of a GBF episode with a barbarian individual on a hang glider, can't remember the episode name though sadly. Maybe it was one of those films with a ton of alternate titles?

Holy hell! I saw this as a really little kid on cable and could only remember a guy dressed as a barbarian fighting a giant spider on some temple steps. For years, it has been that movie for me that you have feverdream memories of but don’t know the name. Thank you very much for closing out this lifetime mystery for me!

Oh wow!! This is one of my FAVORITE bad flicks! Once I started staying up late by myself in middle school, this was just about the first cheese fest I watched. I loved the sword & sorcery/Conan knock-off movies, but even my middle school excitement couldn't fool me into thinking this was a good flick. It was such an absolute stinker, but what a fun stinker it was! Thanks for exhuming, er, spotlighting such an important movie for me!

That was usually the problem with these '80s fantasy films (and a huge portion of B movies until around the '90s or so). They almost always had incredible poster art that the films couldn't ever hope to live up to. I mean, Boris Vallejo was more or less the go-to for Roger Corman's fantasy films (e.g. Deathstalker, Barbarian Queen).

Can't go wrong with D'amato!!! Btw the spider king was Dakkar (his real name), the dude named Lucas from Fulci's Zombie. He was a musician and pro wrestler as well. He passed away in 2007.

Great review as always Cecil, I loved the sequel to this that was shown as Cave Dwellers on MST3K so it's nice to see the first movie is pretty much the same low budget bad movie but man what fun. I found out there's actually 4 Ator movies. A whole goddamn franchise. Some of them got released under 2 or 3 different titles, but there's: 1. "Ator the Fighting Eagle", aka "Ator the Invincible" 2. "Ator 2: the Invincible Orion", aka "The Blade Master", aka "Cave Dwellers" 3. "The Iron Warrior" 4. "Ator III [sic]: The Hobgoblin", aka "Hobgoblin", aka "Quest For the Mighty Sword"
