I’m confused because you purposely bought the 500 horse 1200 ft/lb high output truck and then complain that it’s a hot rod!! Aah yes, yes it is!! They gave you all the power. As far as the exhaust brake you should have waited to see if the aftermarket had any solutions. I’m a ford guy I watched every update you did with the last powerstroke and this one. I was hoping you’d at least put a few hundred thousand on it and see what it’s made of.

It’s called being flaky. He doesn’t know what he wants. He’s got the dough to buy whatever, which I respect that. I’m a GM guy an he likes to slam GM like their a luxury cruiser an can’t be used for work, however if I had the new 23 Ford HO I would’ve definitely ran the bitch. I think Ford has something there for once.

For fuel mileage as a owner, I know being safe is number one which I wonder if it's not a software issue with the engine brake ( my 17 f 150[I know a different class being gas] but having driving big diesels for 32 years loved the engine braking for the trailer in f150 and not slipping back on dead starts going up hill) would of have loved this automatic features on my big trucks. But 14 or better mileage if possible is huge savings.

I have always had duramax trucks and minus 1 random broken crank , they have been very solid. Still have a high mile lly and have a 2024 which is Cadillac like yes but it tows great. I’ve had a couple rams. They were dogs in comparison. Had a coveted 12 valve all stock and super low mile that wouldn’t get out of its own way. I mean towing a 8k lb skid on a gooseneck was painful. The lly pulls light years better. Out of all the Chevy trucks I’ve owned, which honestly is more than I can recall,, I’ve had very little trouble w them. Minimal wear parts on the front end ect. They all have towed 15-22k daily. Always. So for the notion that they are show and no go- I know better. Both of my rams were a total joke

Hey Paul! Awesome content you've got by sharing your real experiences, thank you. My current 2017 ford F350 diesel SRW is my first diesel vehicle and we purchased it new and it's now at 124,000 original miles as type and never let us down. My wife and I live full-time on the road and this truck pulls our 32 feet 10K lbs. RV travel trailer home for the past 5 years. This time, I decided to try out a 2022 - 2023 RAM 3500 dually H.O. with the Aisin and 4:10 gears to continue our journey on the road on a 20k 5th wheel toy hauler that is 45 feet long to carry all our junk with us. I will try to report back in the future how will the truck hold and perform (mainly the engine brake, stability, and power) for our usage pulling our "House on Wheels". Keep up the good work and stay humble my friend! Howdy, from the Nevada Desert!🤠

My 22 3500 SRW HO Ram is doing good. I just drive the thing though, I pulled my 40,000 combined weight 2 ton truck and trailer out of a sticky situation with it yesterday. That’s hardest that’s truck worked so far. And I put it in 4 low and pulled it out. Most days I just drive it like a half ton. I do not need a one ton truck 99% of the time. However, that 1% of the time really really really sucks when you don’t have it.

Paul - long time fan of the channels. I have a ‘21 Ford F450 currently. I have owned many trucks from all the brands. Never had ANY luck with GM. Constantly breaking things as I tow every day. I, too, love Rams, but I found I was always chasing little repairs, or some things that broke (rear seals) that shouldn’t break under 50k miles. Soooo - bring me to my Ford. No issues. Pulls like an absolute champ and stops on a dime. I guess the exhaust break isn’t as big of a deal to me as it seams to be for everyone else. Sad to see ya dump this truck so early. I was hoping to see the long haul and you getting comfortable with it. Anyways - sorry for the long winded response. Good luck - what’s next?

I questioned my sanity after spending hours in the engine bay of my Powerstroke. Pretty sure the mechanics willing to work on them go insane too. Now when I look at the engine bay of my Cummins I smile every time I can see ground through both sides of the engine and can identify all the parts just by casually looking in, unlike the powerstroke spaghetti mess hiding access to everything.

This is so funny.... I put 6k miles on that 2023 ram mega cab limited 3500 HO Aisin..... I traded back for my 2022 Ford last week! The 6 speed and long turbo spool up I thought was a joke. Everyone has an opinion and I mean no disrespect but my personal opinion is Ram is so far behind in so many ways. The interior was great but the truck itself to me just felt cheap.... The bed didn't line up with the cab as is should. Pulling a 30ft gooseneck in Texas hill country it would downshift to 5th and just scream trying to pull hills.... Trying to pass cars/trucks at 75ish almost felt dangerous, it took so much longer than my 22 Ford or 23 GMC...... I'll probably catch a lot of hell for this but every man is different..... Some prefer blonde, brunet, and the occasional crazy red head.... I'm Ford all the way with GMC not far behind. Love the videos PD, keep em coming!!! Cheers!!!

After the long wait, I jumped the ship to 2023 Ram 3500 Limited DRW HO 6.7 Aisin transmission 4.1 gear, Night edition. 6 speed only gives me around 15 mpg at 75 mph. My F350 6.7 3.43 gear used give me 17 mpg at 75mph.. Interior is more quiet and better on Ram Limited.. They are both great trucks

It's ironic you came to this conclusion as I just did too. I picked up a 22 F350 to see what Ford was all about while Ram ironed out the issues in the 22's. There are multiple things I believe Ford does better, however, overall there are some major misses. The exhaust brake is no where near as effective as Rams and the aluminum body has multiple drawbacks. You can feel the doors moving in the door jams and the hinges starting having creaking issues. Took it in to the dealership and they are well aware of the problem as they're known and very common. Said they will wait for it to become worse as its very expenive to repair. The truck feels light on its feet but that translates to a platform that doesn't feel near as stable as Rams when pulling. I went and test drove a 23 3500 Limited Mega Cab and the overall build quality and solid feel blew me away. Always loved my Rams but being out of one for 10 months really allowed me to see and feel why I always preferred them. I couldn't trade out of the Ford fast enough and will never even consider another make.

I concur, since my first diesel truck is a new (back then) 2017 f.350 diesel srw. The first ever alumiduty in the super duty line up. My wife and live full-time on the road since 2018 and going on six years now and 95% of the time, our truck and 10k lbs. 32 feet travel trailer rv goes to wash boards, unpaved roads in the desert and forest/mountains. The truck now is at 124,500 original miles as I type and been very reliable with just the basic maintenance that I perform myself on the road. I noticed that at 100k miles, everything starts to creek and the truck has mainly feel floating on road and off road at times when not towing. This time, I have a change of heart and waiting for the delivery of a slightly used 2022 Ram 3500 HO Cummins dually or a 2023 ram 3500 HO Cummins dually to continue our journey on the road and to pull our new rig a 43 feet long 20k lbs. 5th wheel toy hauler.

To much go, not enough brake. F350 super duty is within the same class range for weight pulling of a small semi truck and trailer. You need power to get going and give yourself plenty of time to stop. When I hear people say not enough braking power, usually it's because there trying to stop too short and not giving enough distance to slow down instead. One of the things I was told in my CDL class.

So your fearful of it breaking because it’s powerful. Why not get a fleet of old 12 valves? I mean your newer RAM’s are hot rods compared to them right? Your money just trying to follow the logic. If you need a fleet of commercial work trucks that are conservative get an F550.

Now days the majority of people with diesels don’t even tow. That’s why all the manufacturers are trying to out do each other with HP numbers. If I wanted to go fast, a diesel truck would be pretty low on the list. I’d buy a real hot rod.

On I-40 into Albuquerque from gallup this weekend, I noticed a struggling or limping is Ford. The powerstroke was hauling 3 vehicles with his hazards on. A few hours later, I was going by that spot, and he left the 3 vehicles on the trailer on the shoulder of I-40. The powerstroke was obviously towed. But the GM and Ram hotshots were still getting it. It's possibly because they run hot normally, and then when they get a load, all Temps are already border lined, so there's nothing to do but overheat. Gm and Ram have room for heating up and cooling down, plus it was over 100° out.

I just brought home a ‘23 f350 non HO dually and I love most of the upgrades from my ‘17 srw. Ford improved the strength of the exhaust brake, but it still is just as unpredictable as ever unless the cruise control is on. The Ford software engineers are the ones that need to go drive a loaded up Ram and maybe even some 80k plus class 8 trucks so that they can understand why we want the exhaust brake to function properly when not using cruise control. The auto setting works pretty well in most hilly curvy roads, but if I select full I want ALL the exhaust brake the moment I let off the fuel. I use cruise control about 80-90% of the time so it’s not a huge issue, but I still wish they could get the exhaust brake to work like it should when I’m not using cruise control. I’m really hoping that someone figures out how to remove the seatbelt crap from the screen, this is my single biggest annoyance about the truck so far. I’m curious how upset the truck is going to get when I remove the seats altogether.

AGREED!! You my friend understand trucks. Just got a 23' Ford and my 20' Ram is light years ahead of a truck that's 3 years newer. The exhaust brake on the Ram is second to none, the interior is absolutely better in the Ram, and the cameras are also way better. I can't even see my gooseneck ball in the Ford camera cause it's so blurry. The Ram I could see a fly sitting on the ball. However, I agree the 6.7 does pull well, everything else around the platform seems to be subpar or not much thought into it. As soon as Ford finally has a motor figured out since the 7.3 diesel it seems they can't figure out the rest of it to flow properly. BTW that seat belt thing is awful.
