"Goodbye Dolly Grey" is a British version of a song of the same name from the 19th century United States, written by Will D. Cobb and Paul Barnes during the Spanish American war. The British lyrical changes became popular during the Boer War (1899-1902) and was often sung by soldiers in Africa. The song tells the story of a soldier bidding farewell to his sweetheart, Dolly Grey, as he goes off to war. It reflects the sentiment of separation and longing during times of conflict.

Thoughts on Jacobitism?

I think modern Jacobitism is rather absurd. Historically? James II did have a claim, but he also tried to make the country more equal preferring Catholics. The old pretender seemed a bit dull to me, and Bonnie Prince Charlie seemed kind of autocratic more than regal.

@@Imperial_Britannia all but until the first world war(Jacobite claimant sided with Germany) the was a continuous support of jacobitism, since then the has been rather a draught of support. The is definitely a (very much untapped) support of jacobitism In traditionalist catholic/Anglo-Catholic circles (I know s few) by what I've seen we're just completely unorganized, the only "Jacobite" organisation is the royal Stuart society, but they don't even support the restoration of the sovereign. I think the is some support in the society of Charles the martyr. The is also some support in the national distributist party(majority catholic and Anglican political party) God bless

Some of their songs, most of my taste in music is more so patriotic/royalist type, historical music and songs of wars, but I do like a few songs from the modern era.

Should have been like Canada, Ireland should be a Commonwealth realm that peacefully left the Union, the Protestants in the north choosing to either stay part of Britain proper, or the dominion of Ireland. Of course with Charles III being the head of state, but Ireland having its own powerful parliament.
