And the street signs are Smith & W[esson] 9[mm] St. Brilliant. Even if you don't notice, it's in your subconscious. Just as a viewer, this disturbing location is chock full of danger without showing anything threatening on-screen, it's all implied & the results are bonechilling. Karen trusted her instincts, thankfully. You can hear the the guys say "block the window" "shhh-shhh-shhh" "just be quiet, don't worry". It was clearly going to be a hit. Out of all of the ultra-violent, bloody, and brutal scenes Scorcese has created in masterpiece after masterpiece- this scene probably scares me the most. Jimmy looking over his shoulder after directing Karen down the street--clearly indicates that he was making sure no one on the street saw her go into that building to get whacked. That kiss that he gave her was his kiss of death for her. He was clearly about to have her whacked...his frustrated response to her leaving is all the proof you need...when he says “no no no it’s in there! It’s in there” what he’s really saying is “goddamnit woman can you quit being so stubborn and just get in there so we can whack you!!!”

@rampageclover97882 жыл бұрын
@@kevinsager5054 It's my favorite scene in the movie...the two guys are in the shade, you can't see their faces but how they freeze when they see her...very menacing and predatory body language, the haze of cigar smoke surrounding them...extremely unsettling. Scorsese was going for a completely different color scheme here and the result is fucking beautiful.....between the violence and the wisecracks, scenes like this bring the balance back...it's at the right tempo, we're being led to down this path of "shit's about to go down, she's gonna get it" but Scorsese pulls the reigns back just in time....anyone seeing this for the first time will inevitably be on the edge of their seat......put it this way, if they'd shot an alternative to this where Jimmy responds by ordering those guys to run after her, the scene would be completely ruined and it'd look ridiculous
