Nice job. I have one of the more recent Rheem condenser units where one screw on each side lets you remove the four side covers for easy cleaning. It has been working great for six years now.

If there is an A-frame style evaporator inside the furnace duct work, pull it out and take a look under it. If the customer has a dig or cat, there could be a matt of animal fur stuck to the underside of the evaporator.

Remember sweating suction line is caused by what ever the Dew Point is. If it sweat's it sill can be over or under charge.

I’m confused, wouldn’t a dirty condenser result in a low subcooling? And subsequently, cleaning the condenser would help to cool the refrigerant more and increase the subcooling. What you said sounds backwards from that.
@JeffsHVACAdventures
@JeffsHVACAdventures 20 күн бұрын
No low Subcooling would result in low refrigerant charge or wide open metering device. High Subcooling could be dirty condenser, over charge, restriction in refrigeration circuit.
@CaryS2
@CaryS2 20 күн бұрын
I’m not trying to be difficult, I’m just trying to understand. It just doesn’t make sense to me that if the condenser was extra dirty, say packed with mud, then the heat exchanger would be very ineffective so it should not be able to cool the refrigerant below the saturation temperature very much at all. I would think that would be called low amount of sub-cooling. And if the condenser was perfectly clean with max amount of pristine surface area for heat transfer, that seems like it would be able to cool the refrigerant to the maximum amount possible thereby achieving a large amount of sun-cooling below the saturation temperature.

i always recommend tubros all the way. They are better. Also, you installed the capacitor incorrectly. Youre suppose to hide the label of the cap plus, recommend new contactors cause its happened to me where i leave and 2 months later that contactor goes out. I give the customers multiple options and let them decide you know
@JeffsHVACAdventures
@JeffsHVACAdventures 26 күн бұрын
Pretty sure you’re joking about the cap label but I didn’t want to run the bill up too high on the customer. I did mention it but They barely approved the work I did do.

I'm a noob so forgive my stupid question: how can the compressor thermal switch be open when the capacitor is pretty much dead?
@JeffsHVACAdventures
@JeffsHVACAdventures 22 күн бұрын
The dead cap would cause the compressor to go into thermal OL. When the unit has a dead cap, every time you hear that buzz for 1-2 seconds… the compressor is trying to start and then going into thermal OL. The OL switch is internally installed on AC compressors.

@FrenchBeefCDN
@FrenchBeefCDN 23 күн бұрын
@@nickmrt2670only if it’s the filter causing the restriction. Measure across the suspected restriction, shouldn’t be more than 2-3•f refrigerant saturation temperature drop.

my air handler quit one day, so i opened it up.. seeing as i already do this to change the filter.. and noticed the cap was just cryin down the blower case. ordered one and installed it, its been 7 years now.. so yeah it was just the cap.
@dc6233
@dc6233 20 күн бұрын
That's just your air handler, so the cap only assists the indoor fan, that doesn't care if there's any refrigerant in the system or not, it just blows air. Whereas the compressor is affected by low or over filled refrigerant.

Are you Flat Rate? Customer approved the work? I was but went back to T&M. I’m probably leaving money on the table. But I do feel to do a cap, clean test & check I didn’t have to spend the extra time to get anything approved. I can do all that within the first hour plus minimal parts but of course I’m definitely not making as much.
@JeffsHVACAdventures

We just switched to flat rate this year. But it’s our company policy anything over $300 need approval from the customer. Which is most tickets.
