Things have changed for sure at goodwill and I don't shop them anymore. The garbage that you find on the shelves were I live has gotten so much worse. Best of luck to you!

It is really sad that goodwill used to be for the lower income. It has gotten so expensive that the lower income can’t afford to buy there. They used to give vouchers for homeless and lower income families to go shopping there, but some places have discontinued doing this due to the price increases.

Goodwill here has taken all the good fun item's and sent them off to their on-line store. Stopped taking their discount cards but are still asking if you want to round up. Sad how greedy they have become.

I’m in suburban Philadelphia and am finding less and less vintage at Goodwill. In talking with other antique dealers they are lamenting there is very little available to buy anywhere.

The green pitcher at the vintage shop was a 1926 McCoy buttermilk pitcher.

The metal easel was a great find!

I have the same Noel Christmas ornament from November 2002 when my daughter was born. Harrisburg Hospital was offering the ornament with the photos at that time.

I’m all for the local thrift stores that REALLY give back to the charity and community. Thanks for explaining things to us. I’ve learned a ton.

So 6 years ago i would find pyrex refrigerator dishes..vintage salt and pepper shakers...Tupperware...cal pottery.. all kinds of vintage at goodwill...now seldom anything...i had a small vintage booth and it was easy to stock...if i did it now i'd be in trouble😔

Our Goodwill is so expensive now, and not really much vintage. The plate stand is awesome! You would pay $40 for a plain, brand new, nondescript stand. Great find! Oh my, the pink dishes and pitcher in the cube upstairs💕

I do shop at Goodwill and other thrift stores for reselling. Haven't sold much but I enjoy shopping. I've also definitely paid to learn the process. I don't donate to their training program. Their budget is plentiful enough to fund it.

I am glad resellers are having difficulty! It's greed, not need when they make more in one day than the store does! Low income people can't afford brand new and resellers buy up all the nice stuff. I give to the Ministry and charity places that provide the same items free!

You have so much more to pick from store wise than we do here in Illinois. I LOVE the blue cover dish with the clear knob, it is little touches like the knob that help make the piece. But the easel stand has to be the top find, I have a picture that would look great on it.

I don't go to the regular retail Goodwill stores anymore. They suckkk. I only shop the Goodwill Outlet bins; that's where the true treasures can be unearthed. The smash-and-grab vibe there is kind of insane, but try it if you haven't already!

This was a fun trip to Rust and Shine, it’s always fun to see Cindy’s booth. I need to get up that way soon to see it in person. If you ever get down to Maryland I’d love for you to shop at Emmitsburg Antique Mall (I have two booths there). It’s not far from Gettysburg, just over the state line along Route 15.

I have given up on Goodwill. I have about 3 thrift stores that I shop - and they are hit and miss. About the only thing I come up with lately is NWTs clothes for myself. Which I have way too much of. Long Island is about the same population as Vegas. They have abut 14 Goodwills - Long Island has one very small one. I haven't even tried in ages.

I really liked the Weller vase. I think I saw some vintage Easter that you didn't seem to notice . One of the blue birds was an angry Blue Jay . Don't think they were a set , do you ? The Blue Jay looked like a bird from the Angry Birds game . I really like the dog house and Humpty , but I'm not buying for resell anymore . We keep buying antiques and vintage because 1. we like them and 2. they piss off our grown daughters !

Here in Sacramento County the Goodwills are awful. I can hardly ever find anything for resale. Everything is chipped, cracked, broken or in terrible condition. The prices on everything have gone through the roof. I now donate to the places who support hospice and cancer centers. It's better than helping the uppitys make their house payment on their several million dollar houses.

I always notice the stop sign bulletin boards in the background. I got one in the late 60s, and it might still be around somewhere. I always had pieces of my teenage life pinned to that board. I find it interesting which objects take me back to my childhood….like the Penguin servers - they do it every time!

The local goodwills are always packed with shoppers, no room in the parking lots …. So the high prices are not stopping the number of shoppers. You have to expect to pay full retail. Half off items is when you buy.

Goodwill are for profit stores. They might give a job or two to people with disabilities but they are not a charity. What a deal they get . The majority of their stock donated by a public that thinks they are donating to charity, then sell it for pure profit. How do you think they afford the massive new stores? Until 15-20 yrs ago, Goodwills were in old, unused, buildings in run down areas. All of a sudden they all moved into shiny new suburban strip malls. Please find actual charities to donate to. It might not be as convenient, but it’s so much more satisfying

Pre Covid era I could go to about any goodwill and at least find a few decent pieces to flip, now days I’m grateful to find 1 thing. They aren’t putting the good stuff out to the floor anymore and the junky stuff is even marked high. Prob will last a couple years or so and hopefully go back to somewhat normal

Try the American Rescue worker store on Rose street. Few blocks away from Rust & Shine. Also the last Saturday of the month everything is half off. May be why the shelves are empty.

If you come to cuyahoga county Ohio, the goodwill stores “GOUDGE” so bad. They used to have not only a 1/2 price colored tag starting every Sunday, but a $1.00 tag as well. Well that went away, and they tried only giving you the 1/2 price things on Sunday and Monday, but I think their sales dropped off and they went back to all week every week having a 1/2 price color. The shoes are terrible upwards of $20.00 or more. If you go south of Cleveland to Medina Ohio, their goodwill only charges around $5.00 or $6.00 for a pair of shoes.

Personally, l feel the reason we can’t find anything worth buying at thrift stores is resellers. I’ll explain. There is a growing group of resellers doing KZfaq videos. This leads to others that watch these videos doing the same. They learn when inventory is restocked and then buy up anything worth buying.

Goodwill stores in the Pittsburgh area are small and very sparsely stocked….at least that’s been my experience these last few years.

We have 3 Goodwills in our town. Only 1 of them get items I buy. The other 2 stores have junk that must have been picked over for the on-line Goodwill.

I fully agree with you regarding Goodwill. It used to be a fun, affordable day visiting 3 or 4 stores, and finding wonderful things under $5. I used to love finding things under $1 as well. But since last year, inflation is rearing its ugly head thrifting, which is annoying. One thing I always looked forward to was the candle area. We love an expensive candle in our house, but would never pay full retail. Most of the candles at Good Will are brand new. Donated by ungrateful guests who thought a $20 candle would be an appreciated hostess gift. I always found them for $2.99. Now they are $5, $6, $8. Another thing I always enjoyed finding regularly Lalique Crystal, and Tiffany & Co. The signatures on these pieces can be difficult to find, so they are always priced low. Goodwill stores in my area, since the holidays have slowly been remodeled. I don’t know what the reasoning is behind what they’re doing, but the shelves, instead of being full of merch, now have 20 to 30 things per shelf. I can be in and out of a store in less than 10 minutes now, and empty handed. I don’t know what’s going on, but it’s no longer fun.

Nice one like the video, would have enjoyed more if you had gone just one more Goodwill or Salvation Army like stores. The ones that are to help others in need. I hate to think humanity has left us all just thinking some else many care? B less you and luck in finding your great treasure.
