I just said the same thing to a colleague. We've been using it for many years in my businesses. We use them for mailing lists and things like info@, sales@, support@, &c... Totally understaed.

Thanks - a very useful video for anyone setting up a new group. Note though that not every organization has Google Suites accounts, and so some functions like the Groups app will not appear in the upper right. One big downside of the new version of Groups is the loss of ability to embed the group in a website or blogger. That made access much easier for many users who do not want to go to a new website for conversations. Also a loss - the New Topic button, which was much more clear than when users simply type a new subject line. Thanks again.

Thank you for your easy-to-use teaching. Using GG for my weekly newsletter to a closed group. The mailing list got too long for a plain gmail. So must I add contacts one-by-one or is there a way to import the entire 210 contacts? AND then can I add/substract within the GG as time passes? Help, please! Donna

I am a manager of a group and I am looking for how to add individual members with the member name being something different than the beginning of their email. I have a group of homeowners and No one can tell who each other is because of the name field only shows the first half of their email.

First, I have no such icon for google groups when I click on the nine dots. I had to scroll to the bottom of the list and click on "more from Google". Then there is only information on how to create a group. There is nowhere I can find that gives me an index of existing groups I might want to join. The one group I'm a member of I was invited to join by email message from a friend.

About google sites please. So when clicking on hyperlink text , the next thing it goes to the redirected site. The redirected site link is clearly shown in a white blank page before if actually turns into the actual site link. So it looks really bad especially if it is affiliate link. Is there anyway to hide that!!

This is what I have been waiting for. after all, using labels had helped less than this cause it allows mostly the user to send to multiple users but for them to send to others it was another thing, they had to look for ways to save the same label yet you waned the cloud to chat, share, comment as how WhatsApp groups works!! whoahoooo, I love this new program of google.

Just ran into a problem with changing a persons email address. Keep getting a message that a person can only have one primary address and will not allow me to change. Could you do a tutorial on how to change. Previously it was a very simple procedure. Not really sure if these changes are an improvement. Had the group for years and never had a problem.

I still can't get how Collaborative Inbox works... Or it's not working for me. I thought that collaborative inbox (and post by email setting) will allow any external users (if it's enabled) to send an email to the group, and this email will create a new conversation (for example for a support team). But that's not working for me. We only get in our gmail inbox the mail, but no new conversation...

I am totally lost since the Google Groups has been updated. I am a member of several groups. I want to respond to a post in one of my group. The instructions say "to reply to the group, below the message text, click Reply all. Compose your reply, click Post Message. However, when I go below the text of the post, there is nothing there and when I click, nothing appears. Please, I need help.

Hi. Is there a way to configure a signature so that each user's post can identify who is posting? Configuring a signature in gmail doesn't work for initial posts, just replies.

I am trying to create a google group with my g suite business account. I want to be able to invite members outside of my organization. I cant figure out what additional settings I need to change. I keep getting a message saying I cant invite members outside of my organization, despite my settings saying to allow outside members. What am I doing wrong?

Do you know if we have a group of 500-1,000 people -- will a calendar invite send to all of them? I know on calendar invites there is a limit to 200 invites, but is the Groups aspect the work around here? Or will we still get stopped at 200 invites per event?

I really like the new interface. I am still trying to get use to it and how to use it. I am use it for hybrid model of education. Sometimes my students get in when I sent out their code and some could not. Not sure why.

How do I edit the members names in Google Groups? I need a first and last name for each members email and I can't see any way to edit their information for that. How are we expected to manage a group if we can't specify a members name?

Thanks for this more current tutorial. It will be useful for a neighborhood group I am creating, but have one problem to address first and hope you can help. Do you know how to delete a group when the owner is no longer available to do that? Unfortunately we did not have a manager assigned. We now have 34 people, all as members, locked in a group that his NO owner or managers. Any ideas?

This is VERY helpful! Thank you! Can each Member of the Group change their "Digest" setting once they receive the first conversation, if they are not at "Manager" level? Thanks, Sethi - I found this a very helpful overview. Couple of questions at this stage: 1) If I set up a group, I'm presumably automatically a group manager. How do I best remove myself, or have myself removed, from the role of manager? Is it as simple as assigning another manager and asking that person to change my role? 2) Must members, or prospective members, have a Google account, and be logged in to that account, to use Google Groups?

1. When you create a group, you are the owner of it. You may add a new member as owner, or promote an existing member as owner and then you may change your role yourself. 2. You can add a non-google account as member, but for them to use Groups they need to be creating google account with their non-google email or create a google account to get added

Thank you for the informative video, we are trying to create a group of more than 1000 people, it is an educational and professional group, but we are unable to add more than 100 members per day, and only 10 members in a given setting, is there anyway we can directly add all the members at once and send a welcome message in one single day. It also is not allowing to add members before it is 24 hours.

Hi Sethi. We are a growing small remote business based in South Florida operating as a full service agency in the areas of marketing, management, events, media and nonprofits - and actively running on Google Suite for over 3 years. These improvements to Workplace are just what we needed, as a small business that prioritizes structure and operational flow to facilitate smooth scalability. Our immediate use will be to set up each group as a separate department (events, media, etc) providing access to third party project partners, and then subcategorizing each project as a separate thread. We are curious as to future tool integrations that will make third party apps such as vogsy obsolete, and have other questions/feedback that will further materialize as we explore more. Thanks! I've been added to a Google group using my yahoo email address. When I click on view group it says access denied and won't show me. Is it because I'm signed into Google with my Gmail account which is diff to the email address I signed up with? Can you use Google groups without a Gmail account? I can't find how to log out of Gmail to see the group. Thanks.

I have a xompany so that my IT prepared for me 5 groups as departments for customer service , so that Im adding new member as a staff using their private gmail account so that they can see any email My organization receive , My question : when the member of the group whants to reply for any received email( my client ) his private email is shown !! I’m really trying to get onboard with Groups as I keep being told it could be used as an internal social network or a great place for pupils to discuss ideas. However, every time I sit down to use it I just can’t get passed the fact that there are either better, more engaging tools out there for pupil collaboration and / or why I’d use this over Gmail. PLS help!🙏Great Intro, Sethi! I am about to set up a private group for our residents in the building. I couldn't figure out yet what the number to the right of the "Conversations" menu item (left) in a group stands for. It doesn't seem to coincide with the number of read/unread conversations nor with the number of members... Couldn't find any valuable help. Do you know how it works? Test Example: I have 4 members and me as the owner. As soon as I post the first conversation there is a 6 beneath the Conversations menu item. In the workspace view of a member a 2 appears. Sometimes the number changes when the message gets read. It decreases and all of a sudden without any further ado it increases back, sometimes the font is normal, sometimes bold. I am stunned 😲Nothing like the numbers for (un)read mails let's say - in Outlook...

so groups in google are just collaborations, i thought groups was for me to link a group of users and then i can use the group when im linking to classrooms or other services rather than add one at a time

As usual great information. Is there a way to embed a Google Group to a Google (intranet) site? I don't see a "Share" button and if I use the URL Google Sites give me a message that says the permissions won't allow the page to be posted just the link.
