His infinite eccentricity keeps the show running on course. Otherwise the antics of the others would quickly break down into incoherence. Amber is Larry. Larry's genius is often times overlooked. As you mature you come to appreciate the role, not only as an offset but critical contrast to the zaniness of Curly. Curly cannot be Curly unless Larry is Larry. Felix is Shemp. Now Shemp got a lot of hate that was totally unwarranted IMO. Shemp has his own takes on the various skits that Curly was known for and is unfairly panned for it. As you outgrow Curly you'll come to appreciate Shemp. It doesn't mean we think less of Curly he'll always be a beloved character. But Shemp has his appeal and he matured the humor, if you're willing to see it. Virgil is NOT Joe, he's Curly Joe. Dollar store Curly. It was said that Curly Joe adored the Stooges act and was honored to take part. I'll take a Curly Joe episode over Abbott and Costello, but admittedly it isn't quite up to par.
