GoPro Karma Controller Firmware Upgrade to 2.50.1

Some people have been having an issue with upgrading their firmware. This process can be used to upgrade your controller to version 2.50.1. You can then upgrade the other components (drone, gimble and camera) from the controller.
Commands to backup your controller
.\update mread store bootloader normal 0x400000 bootloaderBU.img

the firmware update does fix the pairing issue For the pairing issue you need to watch this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ZpulpNOBvtSxl2w.html There are about 4 videos all on the pairing issue.

Great video on updating karma drone controller ,I have the same issue ..Mike's man cave said to contact you ,can you help me fix my drone ? My controller software version is 2.50 and will not connect to Karma drone

Hello. I am at the point to download the new boot rewrite. I am however having issues getting Putty to work. Problems with the port #. I can’t identify it on windows 11. Ports does not exist in device manager. Also, having problems joining Discord. Messages not getting through. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

sounds like you are doing the pairing fix and not the controller upgrade. If ports doesnt exist in device manager then it means you have none. You might need to load a driver for your usb ttl device, do you have a device listed as unknown? Were you able to join discord ?

@@bozmanx Thanks for the response. The loss of the windows 11 port selection program appears to exist to a wide degree as the internet cries fowl. It seems to have been deleted by windows in an upgrade. I am searching for a way to get it back. I’ll let you know if I’m successful. As for discord, I just signed in today, so I will give it a few days for them to update my profile. Again, thank you very much.

I had a look on my windows 11 computer , when I connect the device it shows up under other. When I install the CP2102 driver the ports section shows up.

@@bozmanx I didn’t notice if you made a video on the creation of a cable to connect from the nand to a usb port. I am using a 5 wire usb cable to a three prong 1.25mm connector on the nand. Ground, data + and data - are the only wires I connected. The other two wires, 5v power and cc are not used. Am I on the right track? Thanks

@@bozmanx i have tried to get my remote to connect to my computer i can't get it to load to windows power isl keeps turning itself off do i need a special cord for it i have the usb to usb c cable

Hi, thanks for the video. I am currently running version 1.50 on my Karma controller. I tried following you video, but I am not able to update the firmware on my Karma controller. I have downloaded the image files, driver and update from the link you provided and I go to the same path where they are stored in PowerShell ISE. When I run the commands nothing happens as it does in you screen when you run the commands and get all the dots +++. I can`t see that the Karma controller appears in the folder as it does when you plug in a usb stick. Should I see it here? I haved tried using a cable that followed the GoPro Hero 5 and also used a cabled from a MAC pc. Are these wrong cables to use? What am I doing wrong?

type powershell in the start menu search and you want to select powershell ise

@@Captmacs you download the files from the google drive link and put them in a folder. when running the powershell commands you need to change to whatever folder you put it all in. You should make sure the update.exe file is in the same place as the image files.

Thank you so much! I have the common problem of the controller not pairing with the drone. The controller is running 2.50.0. Will upgrading to 2.50.1 solve the problem?

Hey I’m having a problem, every time I put one of the commands it gives me an error message. I don’t have discord, do you know how to help? Also when I try to open the file it says the image is corrupted I don’t know what this means. Sorry for all the questions but are the files safe for my computer?

you need to make sure all the files are in the same directory and that your command prompt is in the same directory. Discord is an online service, if you follow the link that is provided you will be able to access the system and create an account. Discord is a free service and there are lots of people their who can provide you advise.
