Nice work…enjoyed…but all progress is after the fact…it would be nice to see actual bridge work such as girders being lifted and fixed into position…even the crawling crane moving forward after completing deck sections…please

I want to correct Frostoshi's description above. He's misreading the Order in Council. The Order in Council refers to a second span of the Ambassador to be built by the Marouns' company. Let's call the existing bridge Ambassador 1 and the new one referred to in the Order as Ambassador 2. It makes no reference and has no application at all to the Gordie Howe, because the GH is a separate company. The Order only has power over the Marouns. The Canadian government has said they need "redundancy" with two bridges in place. The Order said that the Marouns had permission to build an Ambassador 2, *immediately adjacent* to Ambassador 1, provided they began construction within 5 years of the Order. According to the CBC, the US Coast Guard also issued a permit. But the two permits conflicted: Canada's said that once Ambassador 2 was built, Ambassador 1 had to be demolished where the US permit read that both Ambassadors had to remain standing afterwards. Also according to the CBC, the Marouns purchased houses in Windsor with the intent of knocking them down to make way for Ambassador 2. However, they didn't start construction within 5 years. Probably because the US and Canada couldn't agree on the conditions for Ambassador 2. The houses remain boarded up. By not starting construction on time, that means the Order allowing the Marouns to build Ambassador 2 has expired. So where does that leave things? Ambassador 2 can't be built, unless the Marouns start the negotiation process again and get a new Order. Ambassador 1 can't be torn down, because they don't have permission to do that either. Thanks to where the GH is positioned, connected directly to highways, the GH will get most of the traffic. Because you have to cross Windsor streets to get to Ambassador 1, there's not likely to be much traffic on it. It becomes the backup bridge, presumably standing for as long as it can stand because there's no permission to demolish it.
