You have no idea how often Ive seen these episodes. Kitchen nightmares are fun to watch, its amazing how badly people run their businesses... if I had money for my own business, id definitely not run it like these people do in the videos. its just unfortunate that the episodes are re-uploads. Small channels get closed for doing re-uploads of their old content but big channels get away with it.

To all intents and purposes, Mike was still in a form of grief for his father. It is sad, but not that unusual, to see a second generation struggle after the loss of the patriarch or matriarch of a business. It is very sad to see someone as capable as Mike go downhill in this way. More so for his family of course. Gordon Ramsey's intervention (by invitation) is the kind of thing that people like Mike absolutely need to to help to move forward. In a perverse way, Mike's lack of caring is ironically a display of immense love for his late father.

I'm always confused to see this type of comment. Yes, absolutely, loss can destroy someone to the point of not being able to handle life, work etc, but at the end of the day, Mike was poisoning his customers with bad food. And I don't mean that in a "this food tastes bad" way but in a "this food wasn't stored according to basic hygiene regulations bad".

@wvrjl
@wvrjl Жыл бұрын
If you think that is "dealing with a lot", SMH. I'm sure that was difficult, but I've been through more (by the time I was 35), than most people go through their entire lives. And I'm sick of it! Not things I caused either. - parents divorced - 3 of us living under the poverty line for two people. - house burned down - step father and parents died by the time I was 25. (Step-father at 17, mother at 21 yrs old, father when I was 25) - severe car accident by a drunk driver at 19 that left me in constant pain via 2 slipped discs in my neck (and I couldn't even sue because of the strict version of no-fault insurance in Ontario, repealed months later, but not retroactive). - All grandparents dead. - inheritance stolen by family members multiple times (at least 3 times; different family members) - kidney failure (starting around age 28) - my brother (6 years older) having a major stroke; now in an old age home - my younger half brothers addicted to drugs, in & out of jail. - I was attacked by a new psycho neighbor, who BROKE in my door (recorded on the 911 call), yet I was arrested for defending my life with a small pocket knife, because the cop was too lazy to do his job, and police in Canada routinely abuse their arresting power to teach people a lesson (not using weapons, even though it was NOT ILLEGAL)- TYPICAL Canada! The stress of the case shredded what remained of my kidneys (what I was TRYING to protect), so I'm now on dialysis (at 48 yrs old!). That lazy, garbage cop, Constable Ian Clarke, Port Elgin, Ontario, Canada, didn't do ANY investigating. Just believed the liar. Didn't even ask me what happened, and REFUSED to look at the evidence. The charges were dropped 2 years later - won't bring my kidneys back!!!!! And more and more and more! I wonder why I haven't killed myself yet.

The episodes with the unhinged lunatics are fun, but this is my favorite episode by far. Mike strikes one as a good guy, who was broken down by his loss of his father and his overwork rooted in his love for his family. I hope he beat his demons in his new career in the catering business. Daniel was just a gem of a sous chef - humble, hard-working and ready to step up. And Mike's daughters were also really likeable. An episode to really root for the protagonists.

Mike and Nellie’s Steakhouse closed in January 2012, which was around half a year after the visit from Gordon Ramsay and only three months after the Mike and Nellie’s Kitchen Nightmares episode aired on TV. As of 2023, the old Mike and Nellie’s Oakhurst NJ location is occupied by an Italian restaurant named Posillipo, which seems to have average reviews according to Yelp.

These are always the best episodes of any Ramsey show. This isn't a case of Ego, Denial, Arrogance, Greed, this is Pain. What GR had to deal with in his childhood with his own father has made him an incredible mentor for families dealing with issues like Mike and his daughters are here. The way he looks Mike in his eyes as he tries to walk him from the edge, and the way he talks to his daughters about needing to save him and show him he is loved, you can see that isn't just for TV. That is a man caring for another man in need.
