Welcome to the 100th episode of Gothic Homemaking! It's incredible to think that I've been transforming the Lair of Voltaire from a boring, NYC studio apartment into a Gothic Lair for over four years and a hundred episodes! I’m not surprised at you wanting to do a redesign of the lounge area. You start something, there’s a learning curve, you get better the more you do, then you go back to where it all started and you’re like 😅🤔🤗 Isn’t that how it always is? Gives us more gothic homemaking to watch! So I’m excited

Yes lol since Studio apartments do not have a separate bedroom? Hence The Voltaire Goth Sleeping bag..lol As it is they added the small wall to where the small kitchen is.

It's so awesome to see someone around our age (my husband is 61, and I'm 53), and we are into the same things we are! Our bathroom and bedroom are totally gothed out! (grey, black, and purple are our mainstay colors) and our living room is old Victorian right out of a Vincent Price movie! We LOVE your Gothic home content! Keep the content coming PLEASE!!

I have a copy of the original book that the postcard of the fairy riding the bat that you have in a frame on the gallery wall. The book is from 1942 and belonged to my mum when she was a child. It’s called The Red Witch. Thanks for the tour Voltaire and congratulations on 100 episodes. Can’t wait for more to come.🦇🖤

I need a series of clean out videos! That would make my minimalistic gothic ice shard of a heart happy. Looking forward to the redecorating, less purple will fit you and the Lair better. The Disney villain look works for some but I don't think it's what you're going for. (Do the coffin closet clean up next! Guest star Jade!)

Instead of tossing out Kurai Kirin-san, how about maybe auctioning him off on EBay or holding a raffle for some lucky fan of yours to win him? He deserves a good home if you decide to get rid of him, plus if you give him away, you could visit his new owner(s) in a future Lair episode!

Add me to the list of "ok but where do you sleep?" He did say studio apartment right? Studio means one room if I'm not mistaken. If I had to guess I'd guess he has a futon mattress or sleeping mat hidden somewhere and pads it out with all those cushions.

Was thinking same; it's a "studio" apartment, which means no bedroom. I guess Voltaire sleeps on the chaise lounge. However, it would be cool if he had a coffin he didn't show us where he sleeps 😆

Btw, I just had an idea that you might consider. If you are happy with the lair, rather than redoing it, why don’t you film shows where you help your friends redo their places? I think that would be very interesting and I definitely would love to see it. However, if that’s not your cup of tea, I will be interested to see any changes you make in your own place 💜🦇

The gothic bathroom renovation episode was my favorite so far because it included a lot of critical repairs along with the decor, having a good bathroom is hugely important to your quality of life

I got a lot of my decorating ideas from you. I was going buy some drawer handles from etsy. Then I remembered some stuff I had around my house and did them my self. I also appreciate how real you are. Your apartment wasn't the best,but you made it yours. Your series is a breath of fresh air. A lot of these gothic home making shows only show the high light reel.

Voltaire, you've really made your small space so cozy and a joyous place to haunt. It's a major inspiration for decorating the small home I inherited during the panini (heh). Hi! I just found your channel and I cannot WAIT to dive in and catch up. I'm commenting before finishing the video (unwise, I know) just to say that I'm so glad you took a second to talk about the taxidermy. I worked for a taxidermist for a while, and then went to mortuary school, and now am working toward being a forensic anthropologist, so the caretaking of these remains is incredibly important to me and I just wanna say thank you for making sure you're being ethical about it

AND THEN HE _D I E D_ I'm actually glad you commit to your cartoony... Well not roots, but I'm just glad it remains a part of your style. I think it fits with the turned-into-century 80s goth grown-up vibe you have, and you've refined it really well over the years. That being said, I will dearly miss the Kurai Kirin! 'Twas my favorite creation of yours so far, and I love that you even bothered to make it exist. Sadness aside, thank you, thank you so much for this episode! It really makes le want to rewatch the whole series (Ugh, I forgot so much), and I think I'll do just that.

I personally love the Disney villain motif, but I can totally see the desire to change things up as one's aesthetic develops. That said... _eyes Kurai Kirin_ ...I feel like there must be a better way of making space than just disposing of works of art like that. This is the first time I saw that guy, and I would jump for the chance to own something like that, even though I already get weird enough looks for the jackalope on the wall.
