I have seen many transfers bad. Glad to see someone doing this line of work that gives a damn!

I'm glad i found got memories a few years ago. Learned alot, Even having the equipment you have there is still a lot of work. And people dont understand why the prices of transferring film is not cheap. Great work you are doing for the industry.

Hah! I used to volunteer in the AV support department at my local community college. I don’t remember the exact circumstance, but I remember someone had a professionally produced recording of an orchestra on DVCAM. They sent it to some company to have it transferred. I happened to see it and thought it was lacking. The audio was also mono. So somehow I talked them into letting me take take the DVCAM tapes because I had access to a deck. I play the tape, and what do you know, STEREO!

yup super 8 costs a lot to get it done. Beyond basic transfers, such as cleaning service, HDR 4:4:4:4 ProRes 10/12/16-bit color and frame-rate matching with overscan to get the entire gate and sprocket hole in the picture, it adds up very fast. This example shown is the bare minimum standard with sound. Higher end services will run the film through a separate custom audio transfer system to eliminate audio jitter and remaster that separately before re-syncing it into a master file as stated above.

I have many 8mm and super 8 sound as well as Fuji single 8 mm sound film reels. And your right about a lot of companies. I had one 8mm 50 foot reel transferred at Costco and when I got it back, they did not rewind the original and it was on a much larger reel. I don't know what company Costco used but I wasn't happy with the transfer. and the last time I went to that Costco That transfer company was gone from the store.

It's so sad and frustrating to see precious old media being further worn out and damaged by companies only to waste one's time and money. Then a quality service like yours is faced with a harder job and more difficulties to provide a better capture at a higher price due to the added challenge.

Speaking of sound on Super 8 film, serval years ago I heard about The 8 Bit Guy’s channel all about the VHS camcorder not take full size vhs or compact VHS or VHS C Tapes. It takes footage on just a standard audio cassette. If I own a transfer store I would love to transfer those cassettes that actually take video made from a kids camcorder back in the 80’s and 90’s. Imagine LegacyBox and other dummy box companies thinking its just someone’s audio footage or music recording of a band show they should just put it on CDs or MP3 files. Which actually takes video. The resolution of the footage would be 80x80 pixels appears in black and white sounds not bad as it was recorded on a tape recorder back in those days.

I send my kodak super 8 films to a company with 5.0 in Mexico because I am from MX, but then I got back a 3:30 mins films and no sound. Is this a scam? because they told me kodak super 8 have no sound, and they last about that long. What do you think?
