Government Calls On Australians To Make More Babies

Recent data has shown Aussies aren’t having enough babies! And so, the Federal Government has called on us all to, well, we guess, do it for Australia!
But, do we really want kids running around?

Higher taxes means less income which means less discretionary spending or long term investments. The simple solution is to redistribute wealth by shrinking the labour market and achieve surplus demand for workers. Workers can then bargain for higher wage growth in line with inflation. More money for average workers means greater consumer spending which generates growth and long term investments which includes having children.

We pretty much have all that and it’s not making women want to pump out at least three babies each. Even in Hungary where they have even better conditions isn’t seeing women pump them out in mass supply.

Yes but if they want kids but don't because it's too expensive that is a huge shame and unfortunate. Any Australian should be able to have kids and afford it if they want to.

This is why we have a bunch of dysfunctional parenting because ppl that should have kids knows what it takes & both couples have careers planned. While those without a clear career path get into co-dependency relationships & end up in domestic violence incidents. Good for family law court employees funding their lifestyles. Thrust these kids onto the Education system to fix the ignorance of politicians who live on above means incomes; to fund their investment properties. Round & round the misery wheel spins!

Have you noticed it's the well educated, well brought up, affluent people who can have more kids that don't? There's a reason the poorest, least educated countries are overpopulated.

We can afford plenty more honestly. We are becoming more sustainable everyday. By 2050 we will have all renewables, won't need to mine as much since how recyclable batteries and renewables are and also many people eating artificial meat. All we need to do is build more vertically instead of sideways.

There should be tax breaks for families IMO. If you are supporting 2 children you shouldn't be paying the same tax as a couple who doesn't have kids

I think a couple supporting children should get tax incentives. After all they are future tax payers anyway so Its not the worst trade. A couple that supports 2 children should not be paying more taxes than a couple that doesn't have any children where both are on the same income. I'd love to see a Family Tax Scheme introduced. If an Aussie wants kids they should be able to have them.

@@clearshade3560 Its actually a huge problem and it will directly impact the people in charge because if this trend continues we are going to have heaps of elderly people on the pension with a shrinking labor force, So if I was 40 years old right now I'd be thinking who the hell is going to pay for my pension in 30 years time?? Because when you have more people on the pension then working (Which will happen this century) we are royally screwed and it just spirals out of control.
