This is one of the best Game Gear racing games up there with Sonic Drift 2. It has a great sense of speed and plays really well compared to the choppier, rather unfortunate OutRun port (the backgrounds in both games are also really pretty). The World Tour mode is actually a port of Super Hang-On, complete with the turbo button that works kinda like the turbo in Rad Racer does (albeit with a much smaller speed threshold as to when you can use it, you have to be going really fast and at your normal top speed to activate it).
I finally got a clear of the Expert course with no major crashes. Crashing into an object on the side of the road causes a huge loss of time compared to colliding with another bike. It can be quite tricky to avoid crashes due to how nasty the turns are though, you have to go really slow for some of them, and rival bikes can hit you from behind if you go too slow. A rival hitting you won't knock you off, but it usually sends you to the side of the road almost horizontally, and can often result in a serious crash when you're sent into a stationary object! Fortunately the game gives you a generous time limit to work with (unlike the Game Gear port of OutRun where a clear time usually has 1 or 2 seconds left on the clock, and even a minor collision or simply going a bit too slowly will make it impossible to win).
The other modes work like the Japanese ride-on version of Super Hang-On where there's no turbo button and you can reach the top speed of 200 mp/h normally.
Music's from the Wangan Midnight series (Never Throw Away, Black Phoenix). My only complaint about the game is the lack of music in-game.
