Yes, that is the bottom bay which receives the RF from the antenna. It is the top bay that doesn't have it (or, as I found out, doesn't need it). thanks for watching!

its a RT-1702 fms version of rt1523e/f for non-nato US friendly nations. Its not a RF-5800V-MP

BTW, ALE is an HF concept. These radios are VHF. These radios use frequency hopping, but for the purposes of making it harder to jam - ECCM (electronic counter-counter measures) and obscuring the communication. ALE is to get the best link between radios. In VHF they kind of assume the communication is not a problem.
