what is the NSN/model number on the ampl adaptor and base mount? we're still using the old shit for the charlies and deltas lol........... also, do you know how many V DC are coming out of the J7 connectors and which pins to check for that?

Hi there. I looked for a while and could not find any NSN for the mount and VAA. Sorry I just dont have that info. I also don't have any pinout info for J7. Sorry, but good luck!

Very cool and tidy neat machine! I have an M35B tape typing unit without the drive/gearbox. Looks quite close to your ROTR except that the drive shaft has pinion on it rather than a timing belt gear. Am considering to run it from some other motor, but not quite sure which speed should be on the shaft. Is there some kind of intro on these on the net?

A nice little addition to your setup, During my first job at a telco, I was in the TTY end of things, however at the time early 8 bit personal computers were the 'new thing', so my TTY fiddleings don't involve the earlier mechanical machines - we had Siemens M100's, that were on their way out to be replaced by Sagem TX20 machines. Line signalling for us was what we called 'double current', plus and minus 25mA from a plus and minus 50V supplies. For my shack I've dropped the voltage down to + & - 12V, the signals don't have to go that far, there is still enough to drive things, and I won't smoke the serial ports on my retro computer trinkets as I work to bring them 'online' TTY wise. With your new supply, I tend to think your letting the open circuit volts get a little high, add in a bit of back emf from the receiver magnets and maybe it's getting above a safe level that some gear can safely handle, too much contact sparks or too much for output transistors on your demodulators. Maybe you need something to take one loop as an input and generate several separate loops from it, so you can have a few machines receiving the same copy, but with the advantage of being able to handle one loop going open as you work on that machine without if affecting the others, as they are on their own loops.

And idea what "SW Not Validated" means on a Harris RF 310M HH?
@w2hxАй бұрын
Yes. It means the HUB battery died and was not replaced while the main battery was attached. It means mostly that all crypto has been disabled (probably find for us civilians). Also I believe the RED USB drive is disabled. Only way to fix is to send back to Harris, but only if you are a certified organization and they sold that unit to your organization. Still works fine for ham use. Good luck.

@w2ttyАй бұрын
Thanks for this! Excellent work. I am looking forward to part 2. Will you be able to show how you bypass the internal loop supply in the ST-6?
@w2hxАй бұрын
Thanks, Paul! Yes I will show the bypass in part 2, but to be clear, I don't disable the internal loop supply in the ST6, but rather bypass the external loop and use the ST6 with its loop supply. This doesn't work quite as well as I would hope because I can't leave the ST6 inline since its own internal resistance is too much and the current drops very low. So I need to unplug it from the jack field when its not in use. Oh well. 73

I do not, but a friend has. they dont work well with regular radios. The audio overloads from a receiver. Almost as if they expect line-level audio (0dBm @ 600 ohms) and not amplified headset level audio. I dont know anything more about them

What does on consider as overpricing for a radio that seller won’t comment if it is working. I have seen too many empty shells at several Hamvention with the comments "yeah I have the modules but I forgot to bring them". Bullsh!t.

Love it when I see the label that says "CARC". IT = DO NOT SAND AND INHALE DUST. Milgear equates to having very deep pockets and a very understanding YL. Don’t know if I would be wanting to transmit at 150 + watts in a ragtop HUMMV. Even the helmet top, would have to line all of the inside with self adhesive copper foil and ground it to the chassis. Spent too much time working on hot 800 MHz 150 watt amps on an LTR system in the past. I bet Pasternak doesn’t carry half of those RF connectors. I though AES256 was ITAR controlled?¿ I know that plain old DES is exportable, not sure about DES-XL.
@w2hx2 ай бұрын
HI @subgunman. Yes CARC is nasty stuff. HF is way less concerning than UHF in terms of non-ionizing radiation exposure. There are papers on RF exposure. At HF, not too much to worry about until 1KW. AES256 is what your web browser supports. All open. regards!
