I think Jim got the categories in opposite. Elite players are players who are playing consistently in the highest leagues of the country. England, Spain, etc. Top players are the ones playing for the cream of the crop. They remain there because they're top. Sean Dyche, Gary O'Neil, Thomas Frank, etc are elite coaches, but they aren't top coaches.

Any striker can have a bad patch obviously. However the difference with him and the super top guys is that they fight their way out of the rutt, whereas Rashford seems to dwell in it for absurdly long periods. Unfortunately at the highest level where the margins are so tight a dip in your mental state can make a lot of difference. That's where he is lacking, to the point where of all the recent United strikers - Weghorst included - I think Rashford could be bottom of the in-game mental strength department.

Below average player this season but with PSG interested his form will improve for the remaining games of the season.

There was replays showing Rashford just trotting after Ross Barclay who just ran around him like he was nothing. I watched Rashfords game intently on Sunday and he is a goal scrounger, he is that goal scrounger when your a kid who is totally offside when your playing on a park just waiting for his teammates to do all the graft so he can get a tap in. He is always in space when the opposition have got the ball like he is waiting for his teammates to make a tackle or an interception so Rashford can use a bit of pace to try and get a shot on goal, he is a goal scrounger...

Why are people still debating whether or not Rashford is a top player? This is a player who was a promising teenager but has been poor for the vast majority of the last 6 or 7 years and has been particular bad for the last 12 months. As for the myth that he was great last season; well his scoring record looked good but in terms of performances, he was poor for all but a couple of games before the World Cup, then played well for most of the next two months(albeit mostly in cup games) and then went back to being awful again at the end of February and has been just as bad since! It's just ridiculous that Ten Hag keeps giving him starts, Southgate keeps calling him up and people in the media who want to be his mate and are close to his PR team keep trying to convince people that he's a world-class superstar!

What’s all this “he’s a big name” nonsense. He’s a big name because of things he’s done off the pitch not on it. His technical ability is clearly there but that’s about 60-70% of what makes a top player. The rest is work rate, consistency and having a proper winning mentality which he has none of. Rashford is now being overshadowed by the new crop of English players because the likes of Bellingham, Foden, Saka etc not only have just as much ability, if not more, they are all some of the hardest working players on the pitch and you don’t hear much in terms of their lifestyle off it.
