BRINSLEY SWARTZ IS ONE OF GREAT UNDERRATED LEAD GUITAR PLAYER IN THE 70S AND THE 80S!! THE RUMOUR IS FANTASTIC, AND GRAHAM AT HIS MOST CREATIVE AND ANGRY AS WELL!!

It's really sad that Parker's best work was from the mid 70's to 1980. The Rumor was just fantastic and really brought his songs to life. It was never the same after they broke up. I can't blame them. They should have been famous and they never could quite do it. You could make a case that they were too talented.

This was the first Graham Parker and the rumor song I ever heard. I was coming down from mushrooms, and it came on the radio!

I love this song, especially "Can't see the point but I see the attraction." I use that line myself a lot. Fridays was a great show with musical guests you didn't see elsewhere, like early Devo (jumpsuit and treadmill period), Rory Gallagher, Ian Hunter, Rockpile.

The Rumour were an amazing band. This excellent performance was after a string of great albums and incendiary live performances that reached a towering peak with their "Squeezing Out Sparks" album and held out for their "The Up Escalator" album they were showcasing here
