Yes, I’m so pleased that I’ve managed to sort this out to operate via the Z21 controller, something I’ve always wanted to do since buying it a few years back, and now I’ve done it. I don’t know about a new project as it already exists so more of an update to the engine shed area rather than a new project but I get what you mean though. Cheers mate and you stay safe too. …………Graham

Hi Graham, great work on a situation that could baffle a lot of people, I saw a video on this turntable many years ago, very impressive bit of kit even if a Peco turntable was used, i always wondered why a hut wasn’t fitted to make it look different or like a German model, Alistair should sell the design to Accurascale so they can do it more justice, the best British model turntable we have is the Hornby offering which is about 45 years old, Hornby own Jouef who had a great turntable of which I have one, surely they could do something with that Jouef turntable model, the Heljan model isn’t great to be fair from what I have read about them, thanks for sharing.
@GrahamFoulston5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment mate and yes it does use a Peco well and bridge for the main visible part of the turntable but it’s underneath where the difference occurs, that’s where the magic happens! 👍🏻. I don’t know what’s happened to Alistair, I haven’t heard from him since he closed the company down, it could be just a personal thing why he never sold the technology on, I really don’t know. I was thinking of scratch building a small hut on the side of the bridge like so many of the turntables had but that’s for the future. Cheers. ………..Graham
@StormmyStormmy5 ай бұрын
@@GrahamFoulston The hut sound like a great little project hopefully with a light in it, it is a shame ADM have gone, I will probably go for a Fleischmann model because of the bridge length is very generous, maybe I will rework my Jouef model and see what happens.

@@StormmyStormmy Oh yes, it will definitely have to have a light in the hut! 👍🏻👍🏻. Yes, rework the Jouef turntable, should look great! 👍🏻👍🏻

@GrahamFoulston5 ай бұрын
Hi Doug and thanks for the comment, I’m still not 100% if the turntable has an inbuilt decoder or not to be honest but if it has then the Z21 was certainly not picking it up. The important part really in all this is first programming the turntable via the ADM control box and then when that’s complete then the Z21 picks all the positions which are then in the memory of the turntable. It all works now so that’s the main thing! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham

It’s a shame that the maker didn’t transfer the manufacturing to another company, and give the support that existing owners should have had! Well done for working it out, but sad to say I knew this was going to happen, that’s why I didn’t buy one!

Hi mate and I guess we will never know why it was never sold on but whatever, I’m pleased that I went for this turntable. You can set the turntable to work with and controller, it is built to do that through the programming functions built into the ADM software

Wow, Graham, I think you electronics knowledge is improving! 😁 You may outdo me at this rate, and I've been dabbling in electronics for to long to mention! Great job. I'd like to ask you an off topic question if I may. As you may know - or possibly not - my layout sits on 2 sets of trestles and can be raised for storage or lowered to sit on the trestles. But that system is no longer viable, do to me being "not allowed to climb ladders anymore" due to my age, to place the safety chains on it in the raised position. In regard to this situation I would like to send you an email. Is your address still g*******.********* (at)s*************? Hope that disguises your address. ..... Ian....
@GrahamFoulston5 ай бұрын
Hi Ian and thanks for the comment. As I mentioned in the video, I’m hopeless at electronics, I don’t really understand what I’m doing so I have to use logic to work things out, so you are probably far more advanced on this sort of thing than me. Yes, by all means send me an email and from what I can make out then that does seem to be the correct address. Look forward to hearing from you. Cheers. ………..Graham

Hi David, for all my track cleaning I tend to use a Bachmann diesel loco, as long as it is reasonably heavy to maximise the traction then I don’t get any problems, something like a Class 31 is what I use and that copes very well. Hope that helps a little. 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
