These are Nacho-average tortilla chips! Learn how to make a crunchy and delicious alternative to tortilla chips using protein-packed chickpeas from Sarah Britton's Super Charged Snacks series. Give Sarah's Grain-Free Chickpea Chips a try, and let us know what you think!
Grain-free Chickpea Chips - Makes 50 chips
Ingredients: - Makes 50 chips
- 2 cups / 250g chickpea flour
- 1 ½ tsp. fine sea salt
- 1 tsp. freshly cracked black pepper
- 2 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. onion powder
- 2 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 4 Tbsp. nutritional yeast flakes
- ¼ cup / 60ml coconut oil, melted
- 4-6 Tbsp. warm water
Special equipment:
- standard baking equipment
- rolling pin
- oven
Directions:
1. Sift the chickpea flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and baking powder together into a large mixing bowl. Add the nutritional yeast and stir. Drizzle in the melted coconut oil and mix with your hands until the dough is crumbly. Add ¼ cup / 60ml warm water and stir until the dough comes together. If the dough is not sticking together add more water, a teaspoon at a time, until it does. Do not overwork the dough.
2. Preheat oven to 350°F / 175°C.
3. Place the ball of dough onto a sheet of baking paper and flatten into a rough disc. Place another sheet of baking paper on top of the dough and using a rolling pin, roll out as thin as possible (if you don’t have large baking sheets, it may help to divide the dough in half and work in two batches). The thinner the dough, the lighter and crispier your chips will be - I cannot emphasize this enough! Remove the top layer of baking paper and score the dough into triangles. Slide the baking paper and dough onto a baking sheet and place in the oven. Bake for 10-13 minutes until the chips are golden around the edges.
4. Once completely cool, transfer the chips to an airtight container where they will keep for up to two weeks.

Thank you sooo much. And you are correct the stores have not been having the CP flour. So one day during the Pandemic God revealed to me to make my own. All you have to do is buy a bag of dry chickpea beans and just blend. Cover your ears, it will be loud. And you have your own flour homemade. You can also do that with Roll Oats.

Love the spices in there and nutritional yeast is so smart, I never thought of adding that myself! There is an easier way to make chickpea chips (imo). You can make a batter instead of a dough (which you let sit in the fridge for a couple of hours), then you pour out a thin enough layer over an oiled baking sheet and bake it until it is solid enough to be cut into chips. You then bake those chips until they're crispy (that last step works really well in an airfryer too). I just made a batch this morning and it was super easy and fast (I prepared the batter last night: 1 cup chickpea flour, 1 cup water and some salt. I added some baking powder just before I used the batter)

@jdaniels1313
@jdaniels1313 Жыл бұрын
@@BrokeButBountifullyBlessed799 Where are you getting dirty chickpeas? All the ones I've ever come across are clean as can be. I'm sure you could rinse them off like with rice or beans using a colander. I recall another KZfaqr talking about how they used to get dirty beans, a couple decades ago, with little rocks mixed in, but they haven't seen that in years. (Many bean packages now say, "triple cleaned") Maybe chickpea cleanliness varies by source and region of country? In any case, by all means rinse/spray your chickpeas off to meet your standards before grinding into flour. Now you have me wondering how they clean wheat before grinding it into flour...

Sadly, most people don't realize that nutritional yeast contains a lot of MSG which is what gives it that umami flavour everyone loves. Any benefit you gain from the B12 is minor compared to the damage done by ingesting this addictive neurotoxin.
