I appreciate the effort to put this video together. It was a great help with my '02. It took me 9h from start to finish and I came close to finishing in 3. The vid sure helps removal of the dash, putting it back was more challenging. TIP: document when every screw came from. There are lots and it is easy to lose track of where they come from.

Can’t thank you enough for the video. Changed the core in daughters 2001 JGC. Seriously don’t think I would/could have done it without the tutorial. Plus my wife and I would laugh at the extras you threw in there. Thanks again.

You are the man!!!! I watched your video on the F4i timing chain like 3 years ago! This is my second grand cherokee heater core. I actually didn't check the condensation tube after the install and had water puring out of that bucket on the P-side floor board LOL. Your video is a refresher course!!! Thanks!!!

I know this is an old video but know that it's still helping out a ton in the JGC world! It made the task an absolute breeze, just knowing upfront where every fastener is, or what harness needs to be disconnected is more than half the battle. Really appreciate the video and the level of detail. Thank you!!

The WJ is famous for the foam going to shit, blend doors biting the dust also. I fixed all this with my 04, real fun! Blocked the vents going to the back and with new foam sealing it blows like the noise suggests it should now.

love your vids, informative and funny. Ive been twisten wrenches for a living for over thirty years (oh my) and its hard to find humor in drawing blood unintentionaly from ones self. or in having deisel fuel run into your armpit while laying in a snow bank. just bought a jeep cheeroke and the guy says he thinks it may have a core leak. took off the radiator cap and found a puddle of stop leak.. no pressure test required here! Ill have you and the laptop on the dash while I work...thanks, bob the builder

ABSOLUTELY GREAT JOB ON THIS VIDEO!!!!! This has calmed my nerves down a bit. 20 years ago, it wouldn't have even been a thought for me to just simply jump in and make things happen, but these days, I don't move like I used too, and it has been many years sense I had to yank a dash for this issue and was actually dreading it, especially with the idea that it was calling for 5 to 10 hours, pending who you talk to, which for me meant that it was going to take like 10 to 20 hours.... lol... but, you really made this look smooth, the fact that you stayed at it for the 30 or so minutes... I will be completely content if it takes me 3 hours to get the dash out of my way... never mind putting it back together... Thank you for taking the time and the surgical effort with the camera.. I am writing this on 01-08-20016, it is gonna be a few weeks before I actually get into this on mine, as I am finalizing some other issue, so I kindly ask, will you and your wife keep this video up for a while? I will post back here to mention how I did, based on following your instructions, lol... and then you can remove the video... just kidding, keep it posted, the narration that you did, step by step and the reasons why for each step, this video will help many folk out of heart ache. Great job! Drew

While this may be my longest video yet, the hope is that it may help someone to fix their own heater core even though they don't have hundreds of dollars to pay someone else to do it. Thus having defrost this winter and being safer themselves as well as protecting others as well. It's long, but it's good reference material considering it's a 4.7 hour job. I did edit as much transition fluff as I could. There's shooting competition bonus footage at the end. For more of that stuff visit my other channel in the description "theskiviking." Thanks!

being a fellow tech, working in a gm dealership, the pieces come off fast... but my god theres alot of little shit... i dunno if you have had to play with any newer ones.... 2011 buick enclave was the newest and worst i've had apart, but then i was replacing the whole dash harness........ or the time i pulled a hvac module out of a 2007 2500 HD, the woman working for CN stored her vents in the vent grates, the second she told me that spot was great for holding pens.... was one of thos "you gotta be kidding thats why you got not heat on drivers side"

Thanks so much Brian. This video was really helpful. I just did this job on the same model Jeep. It took me two long days. The guys who installed an alarm years ago ran wiring through the bracket that's mounted below the steering wheel so I had to cut and rewire. I also had to apply new foam onto a few of the blend doors because they were soaked with coolant. When I finally got it installed there was one connector I couldn't find. It's under the glove box next to what you called the HVAC motor switch, I believe. I connected the white one and a black one which plugs into a unit under, but there is that one loose one I can't find the mate for. It's black on the outside and blue inside. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the HVAC motor also because it's not working. Also, would the engine overheat if I put the heater hoses on the wrong inlet/outlets? Thanks again for all your help.

You have something I'm light on Brian. Memory. I couldn't begin to remember where all those fasteners go. I try to have a system for that. My latest project since the transmission rebuild is replacing interior overhead and license plate pocket lights in my van with my own home made LED's. It all came out real nice and is brighter than the stock lights. I also made my own adapters to replace the glass fuses with blade type circuit breakers. They snap into those fuse clips just right. I won't be buying any more light bulbs or fuses. 3 gun is way fun. I'm shooting sporting clays tomorrow. Get better pal.

Love the video. I just bought a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has heating problems. I thought it was the heater core. So I went and got one. I have not changed it yet. The other day I turn the temperature control knob from heat to cold and got good heat and when you turn the knob the other way you get cold. I don’t know if anyone has work on this Jeep heater before. Was wondering if you mite have any idea what it mite be? I don’t know if I have a vacuum or electrical problem.

Good video. Only thing o would recommend...check your blend doors and take an air compressor if you have one, and blow alot of air to clear out leaves and debris. Thoroughly check everything because you do not want to have to take it back apart. Blend door actuator is known to fail on these jeeps as well as the blend doors break. Good luck! If I can do it, and this guy can do it. So can you. Basic tools...nothing special....just need ac recharged n coolant topped off, be sure to bleed coolant well....
