About time that everyone knows and understands that Bobby Lester was the voice of the Moonglows on every hit the group had with the exception of See-Saw and Ten Commandments of Love. The Great Bobby Lester was one of a kind!

I have the vinyl LP of this somewhere. This was from a club show in 1980, the year Bobby died. It's 40 minutes of all their hits, and it's great. Singing with Bobby are bass Gary Rodgers and first tenor Billy McPhatter (Clyde's son!). I can't remember who the fourth member was.

How do you classify a voices like this. The Blow Harmony of the group itself? They were the very first DooWop Group I ever heard and they set the standards for my superior taste in this music genre til this day. This brings so many memories of the days before I started grade school. My older sisters and their friends would have a good time listening to this kind of music. I'm so glad my big sister took me to the Regal and I saw Bobby Lester all big and fine, singing with his guys! :D

@Astoria11103 I have this on a really fine Relic CD called The Moonglows, On Stage. It is Bobby Lester, with three other fellows (one a nephew, I think). The few notes say that it probably contains his last recordings before a live audience. He died in '80, so probably from the late '80s.

The CD mentioned by joe b may be "30 DOO-WOP FAVORITES! ACAPPELLA!!" There are some GREAT tunes on this, including A Thousand Miles Away, Most of All, In My Diary, and a fantastic version of Sunday Kind of Love. Listen to Willie without the crummy instrumentation that backs him up on the record, and you may be moved to tears, BUT...BUT...BUT...BUT...BUT zero liner notes! Zero! The label says "Doo-Wop Records DWR 0006" I may have found it on Amazon, or maybe somewhere else. Can't help you there.

Per the LP liner notes, this was from a club show in 1980, the year Bobby died, I think in New England (Little Walter, the Boston DJ, engineered it). It's 40 minutes of all their hits, and it's great. Singing with Bobby are bass Gary Rodgers and first tenor Billy McPhatter (Clyde's son). I can't remember who the fourth member was.
