Great Excitement : Violent Incorporation of the American Southwest

Here is a brief explanation of what my dissertation is about. It covers six events of American violence throughout the Southwest during the frontier period. Those events are the San Luis Obispo vigilantes of 1858, Espinosas' Rampage of 1863, Mesilla Plaza Election Riot of 1871, events surrounding the Lincoln County War from 1863-1908, Battle of Ambos Nogales of 1918, and the Paiute "Renegades" of southern Nevada from 1890-1919. Yeah, you can now call me "Dr. Cypher" if you want ;-)

But you also made it a successful channel , so that's a 'bonus- career' before having a PHD. Nice... Not that i'm the least jealous or anything... I like the way you phrased all this. It really brought me back to learning about "the years of lead" in Italy. The post war clash between fascists, communists and liberals all struggling against each other in a changing society, one shifting away from the days of Mussolini. I'll remember that phrase from now on. "Violence is a manifestation of change, so what is changing now?"

On your Doctorate? Congratulations, all your hard work has paid off, call yourself whatever you desire. And as a scion of the founders of Baker City, OR the topic of the settling of the west, be it NW, Central, Rockies, or SW is very interesting. And I appreciate your continued commitment to putting context to history and not pretending that history doesn't shape the present and future. Also having been living in Arizona and Colorado makes this even more topical.
