I can see a use for such a device as I've done a lot of plumbing and sometimes you are close to walls that you'd rather not burn. I've never seen anyone heat copper to red hot to solder though and the end result should show very little solder. I'd like to see the inside of that joint. I bet a lot of it ran into the pipe.

Probably the WORST soldering job I have ever seen. Pipe should NEVER be allowed to get that hot, and you NEVER, NEVER, NEVER stick the solder directly into an open flame like that.

When you use 5% of silver you need to heat the pipe red hot to able to melt the rod
