Also, the last 6-7 games of the season, AD was running with a sports hernia that he said was a 10/10 in terms of pain by week 16. Dude still averaged 160+ yards per game over that stretch. Utterly ridiculous. Dude was a fucking beast.

NFL THROWBACK, I got you fam! 2001 Fred Taylor went down with a torn muscle in his groin in week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. The injury would cause him to miss 14 games that season. He came back in 2002 and started all 16 games and rushed for 1314 yards and 8 TDs. He caught a career high 49 receptions for 408 yards which gave him a total of 1722 scrimmage yards. Side Note: Fred Taylor missed 55 regular season games, which equates to almost 3.5 seasons. He retired in 2010 with 11,695 yards rushing, which ranks 15th on the All-Time rushing yards list, right behind Thurman Thomas and Franco Harris.

Eric Berry was something that could’ve been special. He could still be playing honestly. Prime Berry was special. 2018 Berry was his last year and he got to see the start of something special in this Mahomes guy. I seriously will say there will never be another QB such as Mahomes. I may have the minority opinion here, but I honestly think a comeback season where someone plays incredibly poorly the year before is a lot more impressive than an injury-riddled season. A lot of the players who have great seasons after season-ending injuries were already huge stars before that, so it’s honestly not as surprising as it seems when you think about it. But to completely elevate your game and talent after looking dreadful the year before, that shows a lot of commitment to improving on your struggles. But those are just my thoughts, and I totally understand why people might disagree with me.

This was another masterfully done retrospective. While I was watching, I was really excited trying to guess who was going to be on the list. Some of these comebacks I vividly remembered, others I had completely forgotten, and a couple I had no idea about. Great seeing Garrison Hearst on there. What he had to go through for the two years he was out had to have been really tough, but he kept working, and was able to make a remarkable turnaround in 2001 at the age of 30. Two more 49ers that made great comebacks were Jerry Rice off his ACL injury in 1998 at age 36 with another banner year, and Fred Dean returning strong way back in 1983 with 17.5 sacks after a groin injury greatly diminished his production, and time in 1982. As always thank you for the content, and I'm anxious to see what is next on the horizon for the NFL Throwback channel.
