I can tell you from experience that holding your voice steady while drumming is nearly impossible, but somehow Phil does it.

I want to say thank you. I'm quite a bit older than you and grew up with this song playing on the radio and in all the movies. I can not say I was a fan of this song, but I can say I know almost all of the lyrics because that's how much it was played. Until today, I had only listened to this song through the ears of a child. Your reaction made me listen to this song the way that I listen to music now and I just grew a huge appreciation for something that I have been taking for granted basically my whole life. So again, I thank you. Now it makes me want to pull songs out from when I was younger that I may not have appreciated in the same way.

This song one of the most recognizable drum break in rock history. The live is always better because you get to see what the hype is about. He actually started his career as the drummer for Genesis when Peter Gabriel was the lead singer and then took over. Phil has a catalog that is epic as well as the Genesis catalog. When I got back from Afghanistan in 2004 I finally got to mark Phil off my bucket list. It was just epic for me as I needed to decompress.

I will never forget when Phil’s first album come out, in 1980! Listening to that was a paradigm shift for me as a Genesis fan, as a Prog Rock/Fusion fan, as a drummer and all-around music fan! Great album (Face Value)! I first saw Phil’s solo band in 1983 (“Hello, I Must Be Going” tour) and I saw him play this song. It was a transcendent experience! I’ve been a fan of Phil and Genesis since 1977.

The electric guitar is the icing for me ! It always hits a string inside of me every time I listen to that song... Fire reaction btw, my man ! 👌🏻👍🏻

Sorry kids don’t know the fun of a “sleepover” and watching movies and it gets to the end and rewinds. I bet you SURE ARE GLAD “YOUR OLD LADY CANT TALK FOR AWHILE” BAD BAD MOVE & words and my husband is 6’3” at least with his boots or shoes and kinda looks like he would have played a good game of football back in the day. He is ABSOLUTELY NOT A CONFRONTATIONAL GUY BUT like I said timing, Whole situation, etc was bad PLUS MY HUSBAND HATS THE TERM “your old lady or my old lady” he just thinks it’s distasteful and not respectful REGARDLESS THEN ABOUT ME AT THIS TIME & the #1 thing my husband ACTUALLY LIKES BEST ABOUT ME...........HE TOLD ME ABOUT IT (after a day or so and he had calmed down) and our neighbor and friend BUT ALSO THE FIRE CHIEF who witnessed it, knew our story and me from way way back, knew that was one of the worst things he could have said for so many reasons, but saw Rays face turn red and he went straight up in the guys face and our chief ran over to calm it down.
