President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

I'm a physician with a special interest in ID. I told my nurse in March of 2020 that one million Americans were going to die from SARS Covid 19, and she said that could not happen. She's only in her forties. I started taking care of HIV/AIDS patients in 1983. I knew what was happening back then, and I saw the parallels. When a million were dead, she came to me and asked me how I knew. I told her that history doesn't repeat, but it rhymes, and Trump, like Reagan, hadn't a clue. Tony Fauci is a friend of mine (Yes, I read his book.) and he and I both intuitively knew it was a BFD from the get-go. I closed my practice to people who wouldn't wear masks and get immunised. I lost about fifty patients to other doctors, but not one to Covid.

Prime example of corporate greed: in 1980 a Big Mac cost 50 cents. That is $2.02 in today's money. Now, on average in the USA, a Big Mac costs $5.29! But wait.......a Big Mac is apparently 40% smaller now than it was in 1980! Add to this that minium wage was $3.10 in 1980, which is $12.51 in today's money. But today's minimum wage is $7.25. This means you could buy 4 Big Macs for one hour minimum wage in 1980 (pre-tax), and today you can get 1.37 Big Macs for 1 hour of the federal minimum wage. When you account for them being 40% smaller, this is .822 Big Macs for 1 hour of pretax federal minimum wage labor.

You want something funnier ? Despite all the comments about socialisms, high taxes and so on in EU, Europe and everywhere in the world, Companies that do business around the world do it only if they actually make profit. I saw a lot of videos arguing about how fast food chains can't afford minimum wages in the US. At the same time, it seems there are states that force them to give a salary to their employees. If they did effectively lost money, they would have close their outlets. Then take into account that outside the US, there is a whole lot of different food culture giving people an insane amount of choice. Mc Donald's and co still make profits there despite paying legal wages and having less market shares than in the USA. All come to one thing : shareholders. Take from where you can to give shareholders. Plain simple.

The greedflation thing can be attacked like this: Go into any supermarket and you'll see thousands of products, offered by hundreds of different brand names, but those brands are owned by SEVEN companies. When they had to raise their prices during the pandemic (shelves were empty, remember?) all seven companies raised their prices, like capitalist markets do. When supply chains recovered and the bigger margins started rolling in as the costs to produce and deliver went down, these seven companies liked the extra money. Given the option to reduce prices to where they were, these companies said no, because the demand was still there at the higher prices. The prices of things are high because these companies want them high, not because the government wants them high or won't control the prices.

This and call me crazy is a direct result of the American people consuming social media for the past 10 years. People see others going abroad and having nice things etc. the jealousy and envy of every person who follows social media is hammered by these fake people and to make it worse fake news. Fueled by rage causing conflict between every one. Then the big business propaganda machine (who controls most representatives) points a finger at "Joe" and what we get is run away food prices, fuel etc. while they count their covid money and the profits they are scrapping off hard working families. Because in the end its the MONEY not the planet or humans they worry about. One last thing I can't understand what they do with all that money how much is enough?

I feel like a lot of people's misconception about the current state of the economy is based on the price of things still being high for the average AMerican. What they don't know is the prices are still high due to 'Greedflation' (IE charging more for a item because they know the consumer will grumble but still pay it). This seemed to start (Or I became aware of it) around the time that there was a bout of Avian Flu and the price of eggs skyrocketed. It took a while but some people reported that the effect of the Avian flue on egg production didn't warrant the amount they were hiking the price of eggs and it just seemed to snowball from there. Several months ago ( I think) there was a report that determined that a SUBSTANTIAL amount of the inflation experienced over the recent 1-2 years (easily 10-20%+) has been the result of corporations just increasing the prices because they know we will just lay down and pay it. AND we will for many things due to a lack of competition due to a handful of companies inexorably owning..........well EVERYTHING!

So I had like 8 months before, went back to college, had the best grades in my life, my daughters started college, we were doing well, for once. but then our landlord made some bad choices (in the form of mixing Rx with booze and bankrupting his company so sell his houses to fix it) We were going to suffer. in the 8 years we rented that house, the market in our area went up so much there was no way we could afford a place. the rules had changed too. 2 of our 3 daughters were over 18 now so by law they had to have their own rooms. we would have to have a 4 bedroom house, no less, where the house we had been in was "classified" as a 2 bed, due to 2 rooms not having closets but it was a 2000 sft house. Why it is my daughters in Southern CA can go to college and be roomed with 4 girls they never met (my niece at UCLA did jsut this) and that is fine but my 3 girl who knew each other all their lives cant share a room, is beyond me. The state would rather we were homeless than my kids share a room, that is literally what happened to us, think about that next time your wondering why there are so many homeless families. One of my kids, my middle, is autistic, but there is no help because she was at the time 19. We got the official "get out of we will be here with marshals tomorrow" notice, and worked all night to have all of our things, pets, everything out, in storage, and the tents we bought set up in my husbands, tweaker fathers yard, where we had to pay $1000 a month to be there plus their electric bill and gas bill, for the luxury of being able to use the bathroom and shaower once a week. we coule put food int he fridge if we wanted them to eat it in front of us. It was a stressful and Sh!t time. We learned to survive off doughnuts, and chips, you know things that do not require refrigeration. The day after we were out is when Covids news hit and the information that kick out notices would not be held up, schools would be shutting, yada yada... now the background is, my husband's boss, his mom lives in Italy, and had visited over Thanksgiving, she was sick and everyone at his work got sick, everyone in out house got sick, our hosipital had diagnosed us all with some form of bronchial infection they had not seen before. We spent the entire part, 17 months until we saved enough to buy a house out of state, ( it was saving away from the money taken from us by my husnads family, during wich my sil bf was shot and killed in a drug realted death, my husband and I, our kids, not in that life... so kinda out of our wheelhouse) We saved, rented a vehicle and jsut left. We drove from CA to PA....

NATO was originally countered by the Warsaw Pact. We came close to getting blown up, but having a group of states set up to counter NATO doesn't automatically = WW3. Good discussion all around, thanks. If you watch other folks on YT, I recommend Beau of the 5th Column. His head is on straight and he's got very good insight with global politics.

So I said, "Let me ask you a question." And he said, "Nobody ever asked this question," and it must because of MIT. My relationship to MIT, very smart. He goes, I say, "What would happen if the boat sank from its weight, and you're in the boat and you have this tremendously powerful battery, and the battery's now underwater, and there's a shark that's approximately 10 yards over there?" By the way, a lot of shark attacks lately, did you notice that? Lotta shark. I watched some guys justifying it today. "Well, they weren't really that angry. They bit off the young lady's leg because of the fact that they were, they were not hungry, but they misunderstood what who she was." These people are cray. He said, "There's no problem with sharks." They just didn't really understand. A young woman swimming now really got decimated, and other people too, a lot of shark attacks, so I said, "So there's a shark 10 yards away from the boat, 10 yards. Or here. Do I get electrocuted? If the boat is sinking, water goes over the battery, the boat is sinking. Do I stay on top of the boat and get electrocuted, or do I jump over by the shark and not get electrocuted?" Because I will tell you, he didn't know the answer. He said, "You know, nobody's ever asked me that question." I said, "I think it's a good question. I think there's a lot of electric current coming through that water." But you know what I'd do, if there was a shark or you get electrocuted? I'll take electrocution every single time I'm not getting near the shar [sic]. - Donald Trump | Las Vegas, NV | June 9, 2024

I wish that I could share pictures here. I use my old Folgers cans to store stuff in, so I have a can that cost 13 bucks, says it had 48 oz of grounds in it, then the one that replaced it is the same size can, same cost, but says that it only has 40 oz in it. Shrinkflation isn't "prices go up, that's just how it is", it is companies deceptively raising prices by disguising it.

I live in the UK and greedflation is a real issue in the supermarkets. All over food even the basics have all gone up massively. As much as 100% with some foods. And the supermarkets that used to be the cheapest are now up there as the most expensive. Corporate greed is way out of control, and our wages are not matching the cost of living. This is a global issue. Not a Biden one.

I was hoping that this was the video Chris would get it. All the economic numbers are great on paper. But they do not reflect the reality that so many Americans face. They 'feel' that the economy is bad, because it is for them. Their buying power is shrinking. Inflation, as it is measured, is decreasing, sure. But the money Americans earn is good for less and less and less. And that fact gets colloquially called inflation, even though you can draw a straight line to corporate greed. Corporations, those soulless, feckless greed machines, even they are starting to realize they have squeezed consumers to far, and are easing back. But the bottom line is the economy does not represent your average American. The stock market being up is great only because it means people need to be less worried about losing one of the jobs they have to have to survive. But the money in the stock market doesn't benefit them. It benefits the rich who can play with it. Jobs creation numbers are great on paper, until you realize the jobs created are part time, minimum wage jobs. Jobs that don't create security. And this isn't Biden's fault, per say. He alone can't fix the fact that the wealthy and the corporations control the middle and lower classes at their whim. But he needs to do better galvanizing democrats to be champions of this change, and showing the American public what he has done, which is a damn lot.

my favorite way to describe our long running current state GEEDFLATIUON...first we had all the price gouging during covid and at least around here started exactly on march 15th 2020 the day everyone stayed home prices immediately raised and continued to rise through out that then when that was winding down since there was no reason for the prices to stay that high anymore (not that they need a reason the prices never go back down) they found another reason to raise them even more "what can we do we can't make one cent less then we did yesterday oooh? did I hear someone mention inflation activate greedflation." how can we tell if it's greedflation not inflation? well if operations cost are going up 3 to 6 percent why would prices need to go up 30 to 60 even 100opercent???? that's greedflation

Research the sales figures for expensive toys like Harleys, ATV side by sides, big bass boats, small airplanes, Rolexes, high end women's apparel, upscale cars, etc. That's a prime indicator of "how bad things are". The food industry has been gouging consumers at every level, except the base small farmer level. Once you get to the Tyson, General Mills, ADM and all the other conglomerates, profits and sales are in record territory. They are a monopolistic conspiracy that raises prices whenever they want to,. Because they can.
