@@mareksicinski3726 our blessed mother endured the pain and suffering of witnessing her only son be crucified for our sins. In emulation of this great sacrifice, mothers who make the decision to allow their child to be adopted, in the hope for a better life for them, endure their own Golgotha. However this life is impermanent and brief, and we can trust that mothers and sons will be reunited in the Kingdom of God.

There once was a monk who loved to chant the liturgy, let’s call him Nektarios. He sung very loudly and passionately, but alas he was not a good chanter. All the other monks silently winced as he belted out the melos. One Sunday, our friend Nektarios fell ill and was unable to chant the liturgy. The other monks (seeing the opportunity before them) conspired with the abbot to bring the protopsaltis* from the region to serve with them at their next liturgy. By the accounts of the monks who were in attendance, this was the most perfect, beautiful, and graceful liturgy they ever had at this monastery. Most of all, the monks were happy they got to listen to some good chant. That night however, the abbot was visited by an angelic messenger of the Lord who said to him “for every Sunday of nearly the last two centuries, we in heaven have heard your prayers, why did you see fit to cancel Sunday liturgy?” The abbot replied with shock “Canceled?! How could you not hear? We brought in the protopsaltis! We lit all the candles on the chandelier! It was the best!” The angel cut off the abbot “protopsaltis?! What have you done with our songbird, Nektarios?” The abbot immediately fell silent, for realizing his pride, he felt great shame. In a low voice the abbot said “Nektarios is ill, he will be present next week, and he will chant” The angel vanished like the fine morning mist. The abbot, who had previously let his pride overtake his heart, realized the gravity of his revelation from the angel and seeing a duty to help save his brothers, told them the story of his vision. Initially in disbelief, the monks came to accept what that angel had told them. Nektarios’ prayers although musically incomprehensible, were offered with a burning zeal for the begotten Christ. The protopsaltis on the other hand could not even be heard by the angels, for he was motivated by pride and perfection. These hymns may be beautiful to listen to, but they are prayers. Do not let your zeal for vanity usurp zealous love for Christ. *protopsaltis: Greek, literally “first singer” meaning “principal chanter”

There is also pride in, as a church choir singer not wanting to appear vain so you don't want to practice and perfect your singing, under the excuse that God made you this way so you will do nothing and just sing 'alla naturale' no matter how it comes out. Be more humble, Liturgy singers, study and repeat and learn the exact melody as it was written down centuries before you. And be modest and selfless enough to think of us, the ordinary people, listening to you. Sacrifice yourself, practice, despite knowing that some people will say "Look at him, he is so vain, he had to sing perfectly." Let them speak. I need you to sing perfectly so I will not be distracted by off-key singing and can only concentrate on God. Thank you.

A few weeks ago I accidentally attended an all night vigil for Saint Euphemia, beloved of all. I thought I was just going to Vespers, haha! I had never encountered a whole squad of Greek cantors in full force. I began to suspect that it wasn't a normal service when they were still going HARD half an hour in without repreive. "Well, no copping out now lol", I thought to myself. In truth I did not think I had the strength to endure. But as I have so often lately, I prayed for perception, focus, and endurance to do the Lord's will. When my mind wandered I roped it back with the Creed or Psalm 50. Finally after completion of the vigil we gathered for refreshments and I allowed myself to check my phone- six and a half hours! I was shocked, yet serene. Truly, ask God in faith for strength and you will receive it. Anyway, I made some friends and look forward to a future visit (not my normal church, travelling). Anyone around the Sacramento/northern Bay Area in California, should visit Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church ☦️ May all my brothers and sisters in Christ have a blessed weekend 🙏

I believe there was once a monk at Athos named Michael Tolotos who died in 1938. He was left abandoned at Athos as a baby, and lived his whole life there before dying. This would make him possibly one of the few people in history to live an entire life without ever seeing a woman. I have a history channel, so this kind of fact is something I like to read about. Love the music btw.

I just looked that up, and somehow ended up on reddit. I hate how poorly they talked about him there, making fun of him or claiming that religion had ruined his life. I mean, sure, a life in solitude and self sacrifice seems strange to the modern person, but it surely is saddening that these people hate devotion and living a simple life so much. It is just sad, those who have nothing to believe or to hold dear just have to drag everything down that is not akin to their lifestyle of plenty and meaningless joy. I'm not even christian, but I hold nothing but respect for those who genuinly live for their faith.

Sounds like a demons is attached to you or viceversa, you somehow, unknowingly gave him permission to enter you sphere! I'd recommend talking with a priest or any clergyman with it. Normally, most clergy people have 'liberation prayers' to heal you from the entities of darkness. Go there rather sooner than later, as it might be a lesser demon. These ones are easy to cast out and it takes just quickly. But normally the open you up for more powerful forces! Like cursing is the language of satan. If you curse you attract him. Lately I have been feeling homesick. American born and 25% greek from my fathers side who was half greek. I may have only been to Greece once since I am so far away, but it feels like there, there are like minded people who also speak their mind. Edit: it’s definitely because I live in the USA, a godless country. I love the old churches in greece. New parishes don’t feel the same and all the christians here are fake for the most part.
