I think they could have done something with Sand Hill. It made GHZ look different for a change, but being Sonic Forces, they did nothing with it.

Uhm... Yes there was, it was to try and mix in a new idea with an old stage and show Eggman's "destruction". It doesn't need to impact the story.

You know, this could have been a great thing for the aftergame, going through the levels one more time to see how you have succeeded in saving the world. But, much like the rest of this game, it’s wasted with incompetence. Honestly, fans like this mod maker could come up with greater ideas for this game than Sega could.

Ya know, this mod just makes me wonder how exactly Green Hill got filled with sand in the first place. Did the entire surrounding body of water evaporate? Did Eggman just pour sand everywhere out of spite? Did Infinite create a sand illusion with the Phantom Ruby?

You see, the reason that stupid sand was there in the first was because of petty fans saying, "Oh, Green Hill again?! I don't want the same palette in the background again!" The sand looked horrific anyway. This makes the stage pleasant to be in. Seeing the sand only reminds me of how dry the game is anyway.
