Not to try be the least fun person in the party but that is a misuse of the term "in lieu of". The term means "instead of" so you would be saying "instead of recent events, this brilliant set is totally relevant". So I think it would be more appropriate to say "in light of recent events, this brilliant set is totally relevant". Hope this was helpful.

This man has been my friend for over 35 years and he has been a working comedian for the last 25 years. He was in the Kevin Costner film “For The Love of The Game “ as centerfielder Mickey Hart and has appeared on numerous Television shows including, David Letterman, In Living Color, and lately Colbert! He has toured the world and opened for Dave Chappelle and Louis CK, both whom consider Greer one of their contemporaries and a master craftsmen of comedy. If you should find yourself in a place where he is performing Go See Him !!! You will be happy you did!

By far one of the best sets ever--- seriously, not line or statement wasted. Gotta admire the build up, the unpredictability, the social commentary, the effortless humor. Even when he "breaks character" it added to his set - it felt like he was laughing at the entire premise with the audience. This felt more like a one-man theater show.
