Greg and Jan arrive at James Rebanks farm, prettiest view in England. We have been to some beautiful spots on the planet, but this one ranks right up there at the top of the list. James and his wife graciously offered Jan and I their beautiful studio with this outstanding view of their farm. Their ancestors have been raising sheep for over 600 years in this area! James and his family are carrying on the tradition. James is a very successful author of several great books. Google his name and you can check out his great books.

James' books are a treasure. His writing resonated with me and made me change my own approach to farming my own small farm in Co. Down, and eventually led me to watching your videos!

The ‘gipsey hut’ is in fact a shepherd’s hut, used to be where the shepherd stayed to be close to his flock, especially at lambing time.

Such a pretty area! Thank you for sharing. Most of UK’s wall building artisans and top Georgian furniture makers disappeared to New England and the Southern States over 300 years ago. That’s why our walls crumbled and all the most prolific, best ever, Georgian furniture/kitchen chattels was built/is in America. German stonemasons were also New England’s wall builders. I believe…. it was how they survived, helping clear land and building walls in exchange for board/food as they travelled west to their own promised homestead land to stake. Of course…. I maybe wrong… 😎

Welcome to the north of England. There are places like that all over britain. I farm but choose to walk in the lake district often. Always makes me smile that there are walls in britain that were built before modern America was discovered. And many of the narrow lanes were built to transport wool to York as the wool was so valuable they built the lanes for more protection

I just back from the UK and Ireland, and it's beautiful like this almost everywhere. :) But this is pretty stunning, I have to admit. I looked for evidence of regenerative agriculture there but didn't see a lot of it. Well, hopefully, they'll figure it out eventually, the sooner the better.

That view reminds me a little bit of the one in Tennessee that you and Isaac were consulting on. Look at those hinges, they look hand made!

So I made that in the Lake District close to Coniston Water, and as for it being the prettiest place in England, well that would be a matter of opinion, you might want to go East and cross the Eden Valley and get up in that Co Durham moorland will take your breath away. Incidentally, the Lake District is the wettest part of England.

Mr. Rebank’s name set me to thinking about my great grandmother Cleadie Banks nee Morehouse I have fond memories of Grammy and me as a young child brushing her long hair . It was a task that my sister Alice and cousin Sherry remember doing too. She taught us how too make braids I remember how to do a three braid but I have totally forgotten how to do the four braid that she preferred as it was a flatter braid I suppose because it wasn’t so bulky when she wrapped it around her head. When I say long I mean long her hair reached her knees. She had a cane that had a curved handle she used it like a shepherds crook to wrangle her great grandchildren that was not so pleasant if we were slightly out of range she used the the other end as a prod , otherwise our necks arms and legs were targeted. Even so I have a soft spot for her as she would praise me whenever my grandmother was waxing lyrical about my beautiful blond baby sister Alice. BTW I spoke to Alice she confirmed my recollections I am astonished that I remembered details from sixty some years ago. Alice is the family historian that is her job I specialize in family recipes but I guess I do have more buried in my brain than I thought.. as Mum was fond of saying that’s life in the big boot. I am just going to say ciao and start looking for another video that I think might be out there waiting for me to watch hit the like button and confirm that I am still subscribed with the notification bell selected. Thank you for sharing your time with me.😘💞💕💞🍀🌟👍👍👍🌟🍀🌟🖖🖖🖖🌟🍀
