Plumbers in my state make on the average $120 per hour and charge $72 for just making the trip to a customer's home even if it is to do nothing more than give an estimate. I have a master's degree in computer science and have worked over 15 years and I am not even close to making $120/hour much less $72 just showing up for work. I drive an 11 year old car and the plumber who fixed my leaky faucets came in a brand new 2022 pickup. A college degree is a total waste of time and money.

Last week I was accused of dehumanizing illegal immigrants by calling them illegal immigrants in a class where we have been talking about illegal immigrants all semester. I can't help but feel like it's because I am white even though my wife is Mexican, her mom is from Mexico and my 3 kids are all a quarter Mexican. Funny enough, she assumed I was only talking about Mexican illegal immigrants even though I was referring to anyone that's an illegal immigrant. If you assume I'm talking about just Mexicans with that term, then maybe look at yourself?

It's amazing, because most African and Asian countries don't have this problem regarding minorities in their country. Colleges are a place in a young person’s life where they are free to pursue a carrier . That hasn’t changed but it’s also a critical time when these young impressionable minds can be easily manipulated by anyone . If parents haven’t brought up their children wisely to think for themselves , those in the college system will mold them into something you may not like .

I think it is more the nature of generations. As Boomers we Questioned Authority, todays young tend to Blindly Obey whatever they're told. In no small part that is due to social pressure. Half a century ago it was cool to appear rebellious; in today's Orwellian social media era no one is allowed to deviate even slightly from the party line of the day.

@@mikegalvin9801 I think one thing that has changed is family unity with a blend of 3 generations . You , your parents and your grandparents . Grand parents have walk the walk . Parents are learning to walk the walk . The child learns from both and has a better understanding of family unity and experiences . It seems each generation is more and more getting away from this unity . It’s like a son or daughter living without a mother or father . They suffer family unity and what it means . The rest is the education system teaching the basics of reading, writing, math , science , history , geography along with gymnastics a craft etc . If you don’t follow God and religion then at least follow what this country has as a guideline . Our Constitution and Bill of Rights under the guidance of the written laws .

Retired from the military in fall of 1993 and attended a local community college in an engineering program. Noticed something that stuck out like a sore thumb, there were actually to clans on the campus, the Conservative engineering-based Clan, and the other Clan which was the liberal Arts Clan. The Liberal Arts Clan leader was the Dean of the Liberal Arts Department. We had to attend some classes in the Liberal Arts Clan, so I was a Black Sheep, OMG I was 1. Retired, 2. Staunch Conservative, 3. Not afraid to voice my opinions. Just let it be known I wasn't well accepted in the Arts Department classes. They didn't know what to do with me most of the time but finished with good grades. Actually the Engineering Department Dean often talked with me and loved how I spun the other clan up so much.

I enjoyed my college years. We did not do insane parties. We were there to learn a livelihood & become productive members of society. DVM in Manila: crazy tons of reading & terror profs. Then a World Bank sponsored MSc in Canada. The academic & culture shock gave me shingles. at 28. Followed by PhD fellowship in the USA while a single parent to a special needs child. I lived across the lab, thankfully, in student housing. The experience trained me to think critically & objectively. The best of times, the worst of times but always, always a learning experience. What happened to these institutions now?! Unbelievable.!!!

i’ve had a really hard time socializing in college as a conservative because as soon as anything political comes up and i share my views, people seem to lose interest my generation is so soft. you can’t disagree with anyone, you can’t be honest with people, and we’re all terrible at forming and maintaining genuine relationships the worst part is that instead of fighting these behaviors, colleges and their professors are encouraging this type of behavior
