I didn't explicitly say this, but what I was actually thinking is that Mattson and Shiv are on the same page in terms of where the direction they would want to take ATN. and part of that begins with firing Cyd. but i hadnt considered your train of thought. i like the idea that Mattson either chose to keep Tom for the sake of Shiv, or even, for the sake of business since he is aligned with Shiv. so it might not have been some offscreen dialogue. it might have just been based off of what we saw her say. again, good call!

Yeah, Succession doesn't tend to go the cheap route of off-screen storytelling to make up for plot holes, or deus ex machinas. They put it all on the screen, which I love.

Extraordinarily interesting observation. Mattson probably did lie (blood? really?) and saw some alliance with Shiv who feels on the outside of her brothers Co-CEO positions. I have a feeling Tom, Shiv and soon to be baby Logan will make a power play...internally.

Everyone keeps acting like it's clever of the various members of the Roy family to understand the basic nature of negotiation. No, it wasn't foresight for Greg to mention counteroffers. That's literally what they're all there for. No, it wasn't some huge win for Shiv that she told Matsson "offer more and we might have a deal." He already bloody knew that. He might be a massive dick, but he's not _that_ stupid. I bet they could have bled more money out of him in fact. Anyway, who knows if the deal will even go through? It's quite likely that one or other of the conflicted, entitled people involved will find some way to screw it up. But it makes good television..

@The Attempt i think its more to highlight the fact the the siblings are simply not talented businessmen. they consistently mess up. and the worst part is that each of them, specially shiv and ken, think are business geniuses but dont even consider a counter offer which would be the most basic move that even Greg the Egg thought about it.

I think so too. My gut reaction to Matsson’s request for a picture of them is he’s going to crush them. The photo will then be thrown back at Kendal and Roman as a reminder of the time right before their fall.

The music in your previous videos is barely there, so I'd say that it is well balanced and the music doesn't distract from your analysis, and yet, I prefer without the music. nah, if you see this, please dont waste your time rewatching. i tend to like the ambient background music, but that might just be because as im editing, i hear my own voice say the same things over and over. so it make editing and reviewing nicer with music lol. but i go back and forth on having music in vids and not having it, because it can be distracting. and my mumbling is probably easier to understand without it

i actually just read another comment mentioning the blood story being fake too. i hadnt considered that. it doesnt feel right, but ive only had a couple seconds so far to try to let that idea sink in. that would be wild! in terms of Ebba, im not gonna lie, i think im in love lol. shes obviously gorgeous and intelligent, and she seems so quietly powerful. love her as a new character. hopefully she gets more screentime!

@@bridge4 agreed about her being powerful, which is also why I believe the blood story could be true like there's almost that GOT ramsay and myranda vibe to them. I don't think he's at all worried about it though and is more telling shiv to test her and brag/flirt. also like it doesn't really harm him cause it would be easy to fake that it wasn't sent by him and have it turned back on her somehow.

I don’t know, I think it was probably true. There’s a chance he was just manipulating her, but a story like that seems like what a creepy stalker dude really would do, and Mattson has said very weird things in the past. “I get so obsessed with people, and then they disappoint me” with this really weird look on his face. I think it was real. Consistent with his personality, and the writers always have their finger on the pulse of realistic personalities

yeah, i lean towards what you're saying Soda. the biggest clue was her smile in the very last shot. she congratulated Kendal and Roman, but in truth, she was the one who got that deal done. and she knows it, smiling as she sipped the champage. i foolishly just showed a clip of that and layered over the line with Mattson telling her that he likes her since she can take a joke ... like her father i probably should've been more clear in that part of the vid

you might be right. im a bit of a romantic, which makes me naive. id like to think that Shiv and Tom might be on their way to something healthy and long-term. (i also think that she might have actually been impressed when he stuck up for himself. i took it out of my recording though because the way i said it was clunky, especially in terms of a situation where there were both abusing each other to an extent)

based off last weeks trailer, i wondered about her and Mattson. but i didnt really feel it this episode (despite her complimenting him while mocking Tom in comparison) in terms of their fate, im actually with ya. i wish Tom would get over her. however, i guess i sort of envision them together at the end of this show, so im probably trying to prep my mind to be happy with that, especially for the sake of the child. thank you, btw!

Shiv knows there is no going back with Tom romantically. "Our marriage is fcked" was an honest thought. However, I think she wants to remain in good terms with him if not for selfish reasons at least for their potential child.

@@danisalusha5739 ​@bridge4 I disagree. What I felt has been underestimated is Shiv's admission that SHE " broke his heart" as well as he breaking hers, and in that order. We've not seen her acknowledge her own mistreatment and the taking Tom for granted before this. I think she is attracted to him again because he has demonstrated he will fight back and give as good as he gets---no more Tom as Shiv's compliant doormat. He has turned into a being she can respect. I hope they get back together, that the baby is Tom's, and they launch a tag team effort to win this "thing", ( even though I think Roman landing on top would be the fairest in terms of his heart. He's come a long way from the psychopathic abuse of the kid at the baseball game ;)

@@bridge4 The fact she didn't do the drugs is a suggestion that she values this pregnancy. I am sure she has 'disposed' of pregnancies in the past. There have been a couple of throwaway lines about her sexual exploits and appetite in previous seasons.

I hear ya. But based off of what's been set up with Cyd and what's to come in terms of the election subplot, it seems like ATN is the primary focus. Parks and Cruises feels like bloat for them, so I wouldn't be surprised if they leverage the Mattson stuff to go back to the deal which spins off ATN To be honest, last week, I was actually wondering why Mattson was buying the rest of the stuff since his technology feels most compatible with news. So when he went for the entire company this episode, that made sense. Can't wait for next week to see what happens. Blood at a funeral lol

One of my buddies finally read Stormlight. he took my advice and read Warbreaker before book 3 (i had said before book 2, but 3 is good enough), and he also did Emperor's Soul and loved that one. he didn't like Warbreaker too much though, so he refused to take my advice and do Mistborn Era 1 before Stormlight 4. thats a big mistake imo. i think he's afraid of Mistborn being too Young Adult. but ughhh, Mistborn Era 1 is legit. one of my favorite series ever!! (I had been trying to get him to do Era 1 and Secret History before Stormlight 4)

Stargo is mentioned in the previous season as waystar's bad streaming service that Matsson pees on in the washroom with Roman. Its mentioned to suck. In the intro its buffering, while GojoGo (madsen's streaming service) is mentioned to work well. The main problem Madseen mentions with logan in season 3 is he needs lots of eyeballs and that requires content.
