i'm going to play devils advocate. Greg started hitting on the contessa while on a beautiful wedding vacation with Comfry. that was a big mistake imo, though i cant really blame him. meeting a contessa like her is probably a bit of a trip but other than his relationship mishaps, he's done pretty well for himself, and i cant wait to see what his one last big move is =)))

Kendall is just more strategic when he wants to be. He sees the relationship with Tom and Greg as a transactional one but understands the value versus taking shots at them to further his ego. Roman and Shiv take shots at people and don't understand the value in a long con. If Kendall can stay sober, he can take it all. Or he could burn it to the ground with one of his terrible decisions. If he keeps Frank close, he might pull it off.

last week, i had seen someone on an MMA forum complain that Brian Cox was the lead actor, and they were upset that he died. so last night, i wrote a script after the episode where i sort of rambled about that (i ended up bailing on the script and writing a new one after rewatching it this morning{) but in that original script, i said that "its probably reductive to say that this is anyone one single characters show, but i have always sort of looked at this as Kendal's show. not Logan's" (i realize that its probably wrong to think that way and most wont agree) with that said, ive been on team Kendal in terms of the Succession since the beginning. so i hear ya i dont know if Im pulling for him anymore though. and its not because i dont think he could do it. i think he could. the only person who is in the ballpark as him is Gerry. they could both run companies in their own ways. in terms of Kendal though, ive started wanting him to move on with his life for the sake of his mental health and even if he was healthy, their obsession with the company boggles my mind. they are alll soooo wealthy. it blows my mind that they dont want to just buy some properties and animals and spend every waking minute with friends and family (i just finished reading your comment) im with ya on Frank too. Frank is arguably the best human in the main cast. And he's always been the father that Logan should have been. hopefully he sticks by Kendal regardless of the path Kendal chooses!
@Chadmlad
@Chadmlad Жыл бұрын
@@bridge4 They aren't really wealthy in cash though. All of their assets are in the company, so thats why they have to sell. With the Media outlet the three siblings just purchased, even if they wanted to keep the company they'd all go into extreme debt to keep it, which would probably hurt their chance's with the board members having sustained confidence in their abilities to run the company. The company has to be let go, and I think they're going to all learn simultaneously that they're going to have to let go of their Father, and his abuse, too. I really do hope this show ends with the three running the company they purchased, and Connor possibly getting a Congressional seat or something, but knowing Succession's writing style now, its going to end like a Shakespearean play. With Tragedy. For who though? I guess we'll see. I am getting more and more scared of Shiv becoming heartless and cold like her mother. Its been becoming apparent to me that she's becoming much more callous to everyone she speaks to.

as far as the tragedy, what you said next is where im leaning. i have no idea where this show will end, but if i would not be surprised if the Roy's end up wealthy and unhappy, and the outsiders (specifically Tom) get screwed. i hope not tho!

Kendall isn't being vulnerable with Stewy, he's manipulating him emotionally in his play for CEO. Immediately after the hug Kendall asks him for his support. He's manipulated his siblings and is making threats to get his way, he's becoming what was promised at the end of S2 - the rise of Kendall. (at least i hope)
@bridge4
@bridge4 Жыл бұрын
after he cried, Kendal told Stewy that a move would be a feather in his cap. so he was certainly making moves against his siblings in that scene, but i dont think making moves and being hurt are mutually exclusive. so i still feel as if his tears were genuine as opposed to a play on Stewy's emotions

At this point it's hard to see why Greg is even allowed in the room. The others have no time for him. Even Tom shut him down. I thought Marcia was treating Greg not as a kindred spirit, but as a village idiot. Without Ewan's backing -- currently going to Greenpeace instead of Greg -- Greg doesn't have power, any future. He only has a twisted-friendship with Tom, and Tom is screwed. I hope they don't just kill off Ewan, to give Greg some power. That would be pandering to the Greggies, I think. Poor Tom. He has no power, only a begging bowl. Surface-level amiability will only get you so far when swimming with sharks. And oh god, how dumb is Connor? Clueless. And Willa is already measuring the place up for drapes. I think family finances are going to be an issue for these two soon. Maybe they'll get their begging bowl out, too. Roman, as usual, is probably the smartest, most astute guy in the room. He sees through most people. Problem is: he has no spine. He's a weasel. This was a disaster for Shiv. Deep down, she knows she got screwed by her brothers. They easily outplayed her. What was that line from a few seasons ago: Shiv isn't as smart as she thinks she is? Tom, for all his faults, nailed it when he called the siblings (including his own wife) "dipshit sand a screwups". The threesome really are hopeless. The way they handled the Pierce deal, buying at top dollar, and now begging Mattson, who has played them superbly. They are not business people at all. They're trust fund kids playing at big business. The scene with Kerry was hilarious, and dreadful. She was so obvious, with the medications, the terrible crying, and the whole mumbling about wedding vows and lawyers. And Marica takes out the trash. Fun scene! And that little scene with Marcia and Willa. Marcia attempts to puts Willa down, but Willa replies in kind. Delightful. Willa has a bit of spine, from time to time. Finally, I loved how they played the intro theme during the episode. Is that the first time? It was a lovely moment.

the Greg/Ewan relationship is a bit of a mystery. i had assumed the Ewan had moved on based off of S3, but Greg mentioned having had a call with him, so he might have done some repair work offscreen Im with you about Tom. Im pretty sure he's my favorite character now, and he's in a tough spot. I'm pulling for him! hahah, yeah, when Willa said "we've come so far" and then there was some dead air, that was funny. Marcia didn't like that at all! lol (Im a fan of both of them) in terms of the intro theme being during the episode, are you asking if its the first time the show had a cold open? if so, no. i dont have a full list, but there are a lot of episodes with a cold open (including S1E1) or were you referring to the into theme being used as a musical score during the episode? if so, i didnt catch it. my bad

i hear ya. when i went to bed last night, i had written a script where i began it by rambling about Kendal for awhile. how ive seen people claim that this was Logan's show, but for me, it's always been Kendal's show. and i went to bed thinking that he made that move as a killer. and you might be right, but im not so sure anymore when I've had to pull allnighters for work, my brain eventually stops working around 35ish hours or so. And Kendal was up all night depressed. So I've started to think that this new plan of his didn't begin until he saw his name on that paper. I fear that this new mission is going to burn him, and he is going to regret it with that said, burning Logan is the better business decision. so if that's more important to him than Connor's mental health, so be it. i expected more from Kendal though.

I don't see Kendall as a killer. I think he's a weak boy, still seeking his father's approval, while hating his father. He's made major mistake after mistake, and continues to do so. Greg takes the company, marries the countessa from season 3, becomes king of italy using media influence, helps connor become US president. helps Marcia with stuff. oh, and destroys greenpeace if there is a rationale for his name to be on the paper, it might be one of three things. Logan wants to compensate him for his loyalty (he lost a quarter billion from his grandpa, destroyed documents, etc.). Logan had his name there as a possible tool (to watch ovver Kendall as e was asked to in season 2 to keep kendall off the drugs. Lastly, Maybe it is more recent and Logan wanted to mentor him to run ATN, if his other kids would not (he worked there, both earlier with tom and the 50 skulls and in season 4. He is suing greenpeace and was carried at the conservative conference, and warned not to make connor president bluntly, and it would be ironic for Ewan if his own grandson ran the media company promoting climate denial).

not sure if you'll find this interesting or not, but i figured i'd throw it out there so that you can frame the season in your head on one of the offical Succession podcasts (episode 2 or 3 i think), someone on the stream said that this season is 10 days. in hindsight, ive started wondering if they were referring to 10 episodes, but i dont think so. i distinctly recall thinking that they implied that this season is happening across 10 consecutive days. in episode 2, they referred to the wedding as "tomorrow" and it happened in episode 3. and episode 4 was the day after logan died. so it seems like the season might actually be 10 consecutive days in episode 4, they told Mattson's co-worker that the election was coming up, so the election is probably not for another 2+ episode. based off the trailer, the next episode appears to be the GoJo deal, or at least, a meetup with with Mattson ohhh wow. i actually just searched the script for "days" because in order to find a timeframe that i vaguely recalled from earlier this season. in episode 1, they said that the election is 10 days out. that changes things!! either this season is not 10 consecutive days orrrrr the election wont even happen until a non-existent episode 11!! thank you for your post. now im starting to think the season might end the night before the election. thats interesting....

Greg, Marcia, Ewing, Tom + Kendall and his allies vs. everyone else. Is that what you're thinking? Is the end goal still to sell the company or is it just for Kendall to remain on top even past what happens in season 4?
@bridge4
@bridge4 Жыл бұрын
I love where your heads at. Although I mentioned only Ewan and Marcia in this video, Tom goes without saying. But I've been sitting on my thoughts about Kendal and Greg, in hopes of getting some ammo to work with we got a little something in this episode. when Greg gave them his condolences, Kendal gave Greg a seemingly genuine "thanks, man". and he's had similar thank you's to Greg before. (in contrast to Roman always being really rude to Greg lol) Logan asked Greg to look after Kendal in season 2, and Kendal even let Greg move into one of his empty apartments, while he waiting for the market to move. on top of that, Greg initially sided with Kendal during his revolution. there was a major hiccups in their relationship during Kendal's birthday party as Kendal vented his frusterations on Greg as they came down the elevator, and Kendal also threatened to offer Greg up to the DOJ in hopes of pulling Greg back to his side. so they've got a lot of history, and i'm not ready to say that Kendal and Greg are going to work together, but Greg's little "so i'd be his number two" definitely made me hope for some more Greg/Kendal interactions!! =)) in terms of the end goal, theres a big difference between what i expect them to do in the short-term vs what i want for them. i wish Kendal would drop it all right now in order to focus on his mental health, and then his family. granted, that wouldn't be the most exciting TV, and its unlikely he's going to do that lol I'm not sure what his endgame is. his previous phone call with Mattson made it seem as if he almost wanted to sink the deal so that they could keep the entire company. but it seems like he now wants the deal to go through. so, if i had to guess, we can take Kendal at his word in episode 4. He is trying to push through the sale, so that they can spin off just ATN, and possibly buy out Pierce Ewan hates ATN, so he wont want to be a part of that most likely. moreover, he's already laid out plans for his estate, so i wouldn't be surprised if Ewan's primary goal is to just cash out. until the last episode, I would've expected Ewan to be done with Greg, but Greg mentioned having spoken to him, so maybe thats a sign that he's been working on their relationship I guess what I'd like most is for Marcia to have a subplot where she looks out for Greg, but if Ewan and Greg are cordial again, then Greg might not need any help from Marcia apologies for that ramble. i jsut reread your post, and ill try to wrap it up here for now. ive got a lot to think about still, but i do like that team of people, especially because if Kendal works with the likes of Ewan and Marcia, then that might mean that he has wisely chosen to cash out, seek mental help, and focus on his family and if they go the cashout route, i'd like to think both Greg and Tom get taken care of =))
