I have my memorial tattoo for my late husband. My husband loved his work. He owned a fence company. I even had his funeral how he always wanted, where his casket was taken on the back of his fence truck instead of a hearse. My memorial tattoo is on my lower leg. It is his last pair of work boots, with a post hole digger, the title of our song and in his handwriting from a card he gave me, "Always yours", with his full name in his signature. I would bet I am the only woman with a post hole digger tattooed on them lol. Our daughter got a tattoo his work boots with angel wings with "Love, Dad" in his handwriting for her 18th birthday.

It never really gets easier but in time the pain isnt as sharp. I love your approach to your grief and with your kids. A aunt told me.....arent we lucky? To love someone so much that it hurts so much to lose them. That she would rather know that pain then never know true love.

Thank you for sharing. As I have navigated through my grief for almost 15 years I have discovered that these memories are sacred. However they are also PTSD. Seeing our loved ones suffer and brought to their knees is nothing short of devastating. I intentionally never say the first year or second year or whatever year is the worst. Truth is. Grief is an active journey that never stops. But. Time makes things softer. Nd eventually we acclimate to our new normal. Thank you for sharing ❤❤

Thanks for the update. Year 2 it all sinks in, but when you are young with young children the responsibility to and for them keeps the living parent focused. Year 1 for me was the quiet zombie stages of grief since our children were grown.

One thing the pediatric grief therapists taught me which I found very interesting as a widowed parent is they have statistics of adolescent rates of drug use, school drop out, teen pregnancy, etc. for children growing up in a two-parent home, split parents with both involved, just a single parent upbringing, etc. When there is the death of a parent, while the statistics can be that of a single parent home, when the deceased parent is talked about in the home all the time as just part of their normal life, where the missing parent's presence is still a big part of the family, the statistics are closer to those of a child growing up in a two-parent home. Obviously statistical data is an average and doesn't account for every individual case, but I found that very interesting and how I have raised our children since their dad passed. Some people don't like to talk about the deceased that much, but professionals say and the evidence shows it is very beneficial to our kids to have their missing parent's memory and stories about them be just a normal part of their life, so I will continue.

Josh I am so proud of you. You have been so brave and a wonderful husband and your love for your children is amazing! Never stop the love. Get through your loving memories of Sarah at this time and continue to heal. ❤❤❤❤

Josh. I love everything you said and I agree with it. I also love your tattoo. It is beautiful. I have always instilled to my children and grandchildren the importance of saying "I Love You" I keep telling them you don't know what God's plan is for you and none of us know how much time we have. I finally got it instilled into my brother's and sisters to say "I Love You" when we are talking to each other. Our mother passed away about 2 years ago from cancer so we know kind of what you are going through and what you're children are going through. Thank you for your testimony. It was beautiful.

There are somethings in your life that you should not share for you and your family's safety, the kids need their private life that is theirs and private, and the times we live in you can't be too careful, sad to say but there is a lot of dark spirited people out there with not the best intentions. Just hoping your new living space is all you hoped for, a large place with large yard is a little bit more than one person can handle when trying to do it all. You never know what will trigger times of grief or how long it will last, hopefully the rest of your summer with the kids will get better.
