Greetings weary traveller and welcome, to the Hot_Dice basing tutorial. don't buy expensive resin bases and mountains of scenery. for the price of two enamel washes and a sheet of 0.5mm plastic card, you can achieve grim dark perfection!
materials used
@AKinteractive : dark streaking grime (green)
@AKinteractive : Winter streaking grime
wet wipes/ baby wipes. dried out and torn
black/grey/white sprays (but you can use any colours so long as they go form dark to light)
Don't forget to follow and share your bases on the hot_dice_ instagram and facebook

I like the video, but the music fading in and out constantly is a bit annoying :(

Sounds like an improperly set up ducker. If I'm right, the vocal track is side chained into the ducker/ compressor so every time he talks it clamps down on the music. The settings are too extreme. He would be better off just having the overall music volume lower. If this old radio trick was done by manually adjusting the volume (withouta compressor/ ducker), then I don't even know what to say.

Plaster. Just use artist grade plaster making either a plate as thick as the maximum height you want for your structure, or make the whole base (still getting more than a pound per dollar, so just maybe 1,000 base tops or 100 bases). You then can engrave, cut or saw with everything remotely sharp. Just as cheap, less effort and better results. Cutting slabs and glueing those onto is always looks to sharp (and often unclean cut) if one does not sand down every single one (which would be just insane). And for smooth transitions why not just wash it by flooding them a few times with like 20:1 water to color, and only adjust in the end? Having one plaster (or similar stuff, but I am always comming back to just plaster) body makes it easier to get a perfect base to stuff on base boundary if one wants to keep the base as ... the base (good reasons for that). In the final results you see under the slates, which is -- opportunity for progress. I more and more realize how strange it is that in the hobby we try to reinvent every wheel instead of having a look at what artists in sculpting and painting have been doing for millenia in general, and with all the materials available now still for decades. At least we begin to realize that calssic paints have a lot going for them slowly -- though most insist on buying them for 10x to 100x normal price still from companies marking up that way for selling to the hobby scene. search How to Base Miniatures - Desert Temple Bases Trovarion Miniatures

tried laying them out on a sheet of baking paper, putting a layer of glue on the base and then pressing down on the ones you laid down with the glue covered base?

Was a bit disappointed that the base you had in the thumbnail was an official GW one and not the one you created yourself. Kind of misleading. Yours look cool don't get me wrong
