Thank you, I appreciate the analysis and kind words. :) I try to consume as much feedback as I can and a lot of your grips are things I've seen mentioned before on forums and reviews, and I've taken them all into consideration in the design of GRIME 2. For example, making movement feel smoother and faster earlier, including far more mobility. Making some changes to Beacons in a manner that will hopefully please both sides. Adressing fast travel, parries and heal etc... I hope to make GRIME 2 an overall improvement from every angle I can.

@@suikofreak546 I feel like I'm nearing the end of my first playthrough and it is honestly a very strong contender. I think the two games are trying to do vastly different things, but Grime marries all of my favorite aspects of Dark Souls, Blasphemous and Hollow Knight and wraps it all up in an aesthetic that feels like a surrealist body horror fever dream that is wholly unique. I feel pretty confident that I will end up ranking it tied with Hollow Knight, if not above it. But, it's infinitely less accessible than that game. If it's your thing, you'll love it, and if it isn't, I'd understand why. But I actually think all of the controversial design decisions work to this game's benefit, though I could see myself hating them if they were in a different game, but they just work here.

possibly the biggest compliment i can pay to your content is that i knew from about 7 mins in that this game is definitely not for me, but i still stuck with the whole 35 mins for your insights, humour and personality :D

btw loved the beacon mechanic. It was allways horror to explore stuff without map and what a treat to get the beacon after you mastered a hard area.

This game was really hard to get into, but if you stick with it for a few hours it gets really good. I think a lot of people quit early because of that and missed out.

I absolutely prefer a blank map, or one that does not reveal what I missed so easily. Prince of Persia felt like pulling teeth filling in the map. I never "explored" in Prince of Persia, it was just rote "filling in the map," good god it was exhausting. Thanks for the videos dude, I enjoyed it!

W video like usual. A couple of questions: 1) Have you considered a Steam Deck? Seems like you enjoy the portability of switch (amazing for metroidvanias) but are constantly annoyed by its limitations. Steam Deck would be fantastic for this. 2) Have you considered capturing your own gameplay? It would serve your points much more since you can point out exactly what you want to point out. I know both points come down to budget, maybe something worth looking into to invest on the channel.

Thanks! 1.) Definitely considering a Deck. It’s just a little pricey right now. 2.) I do use my own gameplay footage, but VERY sparingly, only to get very specific points across. I don’t prioritize the visual side for a few reasons: I don’t really have the set up needed for large captures, combing through footage is painstakingly time consuming, and ultimately my goal with these analyses is to make them more listener friendly so you can just put em on while you’re doing other stuff. The visuals I mainly put on the screen are more for window dressing unless I really wanna show you something. Maybe that’ll change in the future. We’ll have to wait and see 🤷‍♂️

I played this on easy i.e. dex. Just couple of days ago restarted new game + with str. I forgot to upgrade my zero level str weapons so I might have allready effed my save but lol I have to try if I can beat bosses it level zero weapons on ng+ because I allready respecced my stats to str.

Also i feel you on shapely fidus, i was stuck on that motherfucking hand for 3 AND A HALF BLOODY HOURS (skill issue, but i don't recommend the burst lantern for that boss)

@@pilgrimspromise1132 for me it was the opposite, once i got down parrying giant of eyes' second phase it was rather doable. Phase 1 is super easy and if you can interupt the combo with a parry phase 2 becomes much easier

@@pilgrimspromise1132i care about trophies in metroidvanias the most because there is so much to miss if you don't have trophy list and you will finish the game and think everything is done and you will be far from it and I don't understand why switch don't have that system, maybe they don't want gamers to spend too much time on one game so they can sell more games

That stupid DEER boss. I found him right after mothers and tried to kill him with 6 force and 6 health and a non upgraded claw like 30 times.. wasting like 5 hours.. SO STUPID

Also the mothers froze for me as well which was a blessing as I had a lot of difficulty with them

Sadly I played it at a wrong time. When I first played it, I kind of wanted a merry metroidvania with cute graphics and a compelling yet easy to digest story. Pretty much a Castlevania, but I was eager to see what was in store for this one. Due to playing it with a dissatisfied attitude, I kind of never got over how much I didn't resonate with the game. I'm quite good at Soulslikes, but I honestly didn't care about the progression nor the bosses or music. Which is a shame, since the game is objectively good (having to parry enemies to unlock abilities is genius, since you get a reason to truly master each type of combat scenario.)

I get this way sometimes, too. That’s what happened to me and Hollow Knight. If you dig Souls-likes, you should give it another shot when you’re ready. Just stay away from the Switch version 😆

I really detest souls-like games. I play to have fun, not stress myself out, and progress through the story. Besides, I'm too old, my reflexes aren't the same, and I don't have the time to play.

I did not like grime that much just stopped playing at the two mothers boss fight just was not enjoying the game, but having said that i really want to give it another go now my gaming mojo is returning and my love of mv is back

Can I please make a suggestion? Please remove the quacking sounds, if you have to curse then use "lite" curses like fudge or change the sound effect to something less aggravating. I'm sorry but I can't watch more than a few minutes without getting really annoyed. You make really good content and I want keep watching but man that quack sound makes my blood boil. I understand why it exists but maybe you can find some other sound

this game is too hard for it's own good. the stamina system is too restrictive and healing too sparse to be really enjoyable. had this game been more in line with blasphemous in terms of difficulty it would've been a masterpiece!

That one heal is pretty brutal in the beginning. They added another healing method you can unlock eventually, so that helped. But, yeah, this is a tough one. Definitely not for everyone.

This one game I did not like at all, ugly, unremarkable and just plain boring. Good ideas mish mashed into something which never really fleshed out. A sequel was announced and I couldn't care less personally and it doesn't help 2.5d games making a point unless you play Shadow Complex, that gamer still till this date is the real GOAT.

@@natesquibb3368 This has nothing to do with the video, the sound is so loud and annoying it literally hurts to listen to the audio when its there. Instead of hurting my ears maybe just don't add swearing to the script in the first place.
