As many have helped point out, Grimsmo knives are NOT made in the USA. They're actually made in Canada. My mistake! Thank you for correcting me 👍

I was selected 5 times for a custom maker knife where I design it based on options. This has been in the last 2 years with three of them in the last 7 months. I bought 2. One for my display case and one for carry.

That is a sweet knife I've never heard or seen a negative review and everybody talks about the fall shutyness. May have to get one and look pass the blade shape. Thanks for sharing bud

I was one of the first people to ever get a Norseman. They brought my 2 pieces down to Blade show 2012 if I remember correctly. They have come a long way since then and I’m so happy for them!

I had an early Norseman as well and I thought it was insane quality comparable to many customs I’ve owned, to this day.

Great review, I've had my eye on a Norsemen for some time now and have recently had the opportunity to trade for one. It's on the way in the mail and should arrive shortly, I'm like a little kid at Christmas. I'm a Canadian myself and the Grimsmo gang operates not far from where I live, I hope to stop by their facility at some point if I'm able and have a look around. Keep up the good work!

These are not made in the USA, but are made in Canada. Also, the recurve on the Norseman wouldn't be bad at all to sharpen a guided sharpening system. I have successfully sharpened much more dramatic recurves on my my Wicked Edge, specifically several Kershaw Speed Bumps and Spec Bumps.

gorgeous. im a sucker for weird shaped blades. I hope to own one one day. i started collecting knives earlier this year and im at 44 now lol. I remember starting and asking my self why someone would spend 200 or more on a zt. well my zt 0393 came two weeks ago. I have a reate, zt, spyderco smock etc. The reate is in a class of its own along with a maxace zerg i got on clearance for 199, its a 400 dollar knife. I look forward to stepping up to the norseman, shiro, and olamic level soon.

I’ve considered one of these, and I’m kinda looking at one, so I’m watching videos trying to make up my mind. I guess for the price, i better be impressed with it. The fit and finish, along with the action appear perfect, it’s just the blade. Aesthetics are just as important as function. Also, for the money, I’d want m390, and a lock bar insert rather than carbidization. I know it’s tried and true, just like Chris reeve carburization, but even they’ve gone to an insert, ceramic ball bearing interface, to be specific. And rwl34 doesn’t impress me. The rask is gorgeous, but it’s still rlw34 and carbidization. Very nice knives indeed. Great engineering and anodizing, but too many negatives for me.

On the low, you can get a m390 clone on ebay from "hilberg knives". It's missing the detent ramp, bearing are alright, but once you take it a part give it a clean and an oiling action is pretty good. Sharp and full titanium milled liners.

They use CPM-154 as well. That is the steel I have on my Norseman.

You can absolutely use a guided sharpening system, in fact Eric grimsmo John's brother and the one who actually fits the knives together and sharpens them used to use a wicked edge on all the early ones. Now I believe he uses a belt grinder and from what I remember on there videos they say there now getting better sharper edges. But point being they absolutely are able to be sharpened on guided systems

This is my true grail!! I own a shirogorov neon zero and love it! Sebenza’s, Inkosi and other high end knives, but this is going to be my most expensive knife at just under a grand! I say this year 😂

That tape is making your reading off by a good .008". You're not going to scratch it buy measuring straight onto the surface than opening the jaws and pulling away.

The tape is set to zero when it's closed even with the tape there, so the extra thickness of the tape is not factored in.

I have reprofiled an Emerson Commander with my KME. It can be done with the stones' corners and a lot of patience and precision.

I’ve rounded stones for the KME specifically designed for recurved blades. So yeah, it can be done...if you have the stones. 😏

I bet this thing is insanely hard to get scary sharp, but the Grimsmo Norseman is a show piece not a work knife... If the Hinderer XM-18 & XM-24 felt like this... I probably wouldn't buy anything else.

Man, when you brought out that Ganzo... I hear what you're saying... but one is $25 and the other is now $1k+. The fact that the Ganzo could even come close makes me feel icky about justifying the Norseman through its action. Of course, we all know, at this price point you CAN'T justify the knife... you're paying for the name, the exclusivity, and because you like it enough to do so.

Uhhhhh this isn't a custom knife. A custom knife isn't 100% by machines and has zero handiwork. Great blade just *not* custom.
