I tested the Grind King Disrupter trucks after skating Thunders for the last few weeks. I was surprised by the results! Thanks SkateHut for giving me the opportunity to try these!

Still a lot of experimenting to do but on the day they outshone the Thunders

I skated Grindking disruptor trucks for about 3 years, they are amazing trucks and great value for money. They were perfect for my curb skating ! I only stopped as the king pin kept snapping, I think it becomes brittle with the change in temperature in the winter or something but it is the trucks only fault. Also I changed the bushings to Indi mediums as I didn’t get on with the bushings (I could never make them tight enough for me,). Keep getting out there💪

Thanks for the insight! Yeah the bushings are quite soft but that suits me at the moment. I have skated them a lot since this video and am still getting on well with them. I did have to wax the pivot cup as it was squeaky but that solved it. A lot of people have mentioned about the kingpin issue, so I will be wary (hopefully doesn't happen at a bad time)

Those are really good looking trucks all blacked out like that. I went through my truck madness and finally found the perfect set. But def good to experiment from time to time. 🤙

Yeah I'm surprised how much I like them, still a lot of experimenting to do. I don't think I'm quite done with the Thunders yet... and I'm hoping for the chance to try some other brands too. Still more tweaking and testing to do but initially really like these Grind Kings!

Ayyye! Few things on this one mate… grind kings were legendary 20 years ago and thunders were pretty dire… not too sure what happened but they seemed to have reversed in reputation. Erm the thunder bushings really react different if it’s cold (something to take into consideration) I know what it’s like when you’re starting too… tightened trucks as soon as you get em I bet? With thunders you just gotta leave em and they genuinely sort themselves out! I’ve hardly touch mine in a year! Lovely turn once they’re warm! Also if you deck is wider it makes a huge difference on the same set of trucks as it allows more turning space. I noticed that big time when I went down a size deck. I could hardly turn! I reckon I’d give a pair of grindkings a go still! That grind you did was a cross lock fs 5050 btw. Feels awesome when you hold them 👊 keep it going dude

@@DadLeisureSkateboarding yeah I hear ya buddy. I might be wrong but I bet you tightened the thunders when you originally got them? I’m just assuming as thats what we all did when we started again haha that’s not good for the bushing tho and can make the trucks act a little strange from that point on. Just compressed the bushing too much so it won’t act like it should. I did it with my tensors when I started.. ended up replacing the bushing and didn’t tighten the new ones until they broke in and it was like I had a whole different pair of trucks! Was awesome!

I got a set last season and i fuckin love them. Im 40 and just got skating again last year after 2 decades. Started with Indy's, tried some MiniLogos and then got the GK's. The are by far my favorite. They grind so smooth too.
@DadLeisureSkateboarding
@DadLeisureSkateboarding 4 ай бұрын
That's great to hear because loads of people hate on them and I'm thinking I'm missing something 🤔 but I think people pay loads of money for Indies, then mess around swapping bushings etc and have to say they are happy 😆 when the GKs are so much cheaper and just seek to work out of the box. Mine were a bit squeaky today though but I'm going to wax the pivot cup
@viracocha03
@viracocha03 4 ай бұрын
@@DadLeisureSkateboarding My indy bushing blew out within a week, switched to Bones hard bushings(i think, the white ones) and it was a lot better but I still like the GK's more. I had to do the same, one was squeaky AF but wax fixed it. I think people hate on them because simply because they already have a preference and the fact they kind of disappeared for a decade or so gave people a reason to hate. But when I was young, GK's where always peoples fav. The smoothness of the grind alone, especially as a beginner makes them worth any small trade off there might be.

Concise review mate. I think bushings are the big difference in many cases - my aces are setup with 2 different duro. Christ knows the science of it but they have a super cushioned turn.

They look cool blacked out, but it’s a shame the paint rubs off. I know it’s bound to happen, but if only everything stayed fresh 😂. Good content bro

I think you should really try both sets of trucks on the same board. It is a pain switching them over mid session but I think its worth it. As good a this test was it still didn't give the trucks a fair test. It could be the board size or shape that makes you feel more comfortable as well. Also as I found when testing out light and heavy Indys the bushings make a huge difference. I was edging to the heavier trucks untiI swapped out my bushing in the light ones for the same as the heavy trucks. If the Thunders don't seem to turn as good as you like I would say its more likely the bushings. I wouldn't write the Thunders fully off just yet but that said if the grind kings work for you why change.

Yeah agree with the deck thing. On the day the GKs were better but a lot of factors to consider and more skating to be done! I'll probably do a follow up but they did surprise me

That DIY looks rough mate, it's impressive that you managed to do so much with it. I've never skated grindking or thunders, but I get what you mean. It shows how important it is to try things for yourself, even if 100 people recommend one brand it doesn't mean it'll be right for you and your own style of skating. BTW what camera are you filming with? Think I need to get one, those 360 panning shots look great 🤘
@DadLeisureSkateboarding
@DadLeisureSkateboarding 4 ай бұрын
Yeah the DIY park was dangerous AF but I'm gonna go back fully padded up because I want to at least get a Rock to Fakie on one of the transition ramps! It's insta 360. I got the X2 as it's (relatively) cheap now the X3 is out. Audio is awful so I have a mic coming soon and it's a pain in the arse to edit... But so much easier to film because you just set it up and skate you don't have to worry if you are in shot and you can get really creative. It's worth it if like me you have an easy desk job and you can sit and edit all day 😂

@@DadLeisureSkateboarding yeah pads sounds like a good idea! Sweet, heard good things about those. I think even the best action cameras have audio issues, they're just not built for this sort of thing they're for throwing yourself off mountains and stuff 🤣 I'm still using an old gopro hero 6, just bit the bullet and bought the mic adapter for it - it's nuts that you have to spend 50 quid for an extra accessory to use an external mic, but they've created a market for something that people like me will buy lol
