I remember using aluminum specific grinding wheels 27+ years ago, no lube required, very little loading, no lubrication. They were slightly convex wheels wIth "dots" on them. I don't remember the brand.

Maybe you don't remember because you have Alzheimer's from all the aluminum dust you breathed in.

We have coated cut off wheels in our shop, we have been getting them for a couple yrs already.. For grinding down 6061 T6 or the welds we use flap disc for Aluminum and they work great with no lube or buildup..

They also use aluminum dust in thermite! Just food for thought.

WD-40 is not extremely flammable at STP. It’s similar to diesel or kerosene in that it must be heated before a spark will ignite it. Also, aluminium particles are not volatile. Volatility is the tendency for a substance to evaporate.

I remember sanding and grinding on aluminum molds and I would be wearing all of the stick wax and aluminum dust on the front of my welding jacket. These new products look interesting. I especially like the cut off wheel. That is impressive.

Hey thanks for the instructive video! I've been a subscriber to your channel since the days of Mister TIG. I have a small problem which I know you can handle. Just received my almost-new Miller Synchrowave 250. I got a Miller RFCS-14 HD foot pedal from eBay for it. The problem: the male connector from the pedal is a little guy with 6 pins and about 0.5" diameter. The Synchrowave has a remote socket with 14 pins and about 1" diameter. I called Miller tech support but I couldn't get any help. There must be an adapter available from Miller or somebody. Worse comes to worse, I can make an adapter, but that's a lot of fussy soldering. Thanks in advance! Walter

If your foot pedal has a 6-pin connector, then it is not a RFCS-14HD, it is a RFCS-6M. They sent you the wrong pedal if you were ordering the RFCS-14HD. You could order Control Cable Part# 279684 from Miller for the RFCS-14HD and swap out the cable with the 14-pin connector already installed with no soldering. Wiring is the same, just match up the wire colors to their original positions.

@@Welder-4956 Thanks for the advice. That should do it. Only problem is that the pedal label says RFCS-14HD. I wonder what's going on. Thanks, Walter

@@walterbruszewski6587 they are the same pedal except for the connector. You may want to tell your eBay seller that it has the incorrect connector to see if they can send you the correct pedal, or the parts to replace it, or a credit so you can buy the correct parts to fix it.

@@Welder-4956 Yup, I am gonna contact the eBay seller and tell him what you suggested. I'm also ordering the P/N which you suggested and fix it myself. A credit is in order. Thanks again! You obviously know your stuff! -Walter

I have a problem at my work where they don't care about the workers breathing this in only the welders have proper protection, I keep being told it's just fumes from the heat. I walk away every time they grind as I notice particles in the back of my throat every time they grind.

Jesus is King l wished I did, an it is a thin cast. The problem is the material I have to repair it with is 1/4 thick aluminum plate. I know I will have to preheat the plate first in order from over heating the thin cast . I have to build it up because of the amount I am loosing in order for it to match height of the other two lights . Only choice I have is to repair or replace both light fixtures which will cost 400 plus.
