If your machine is eating belts there must be something out of line, is the alternator square to the belt line? Also I think you may be over tensioning it by the look of the size of your spanner used as a lever. That's a very quick way of destroying a belt. I hope you can find the reason, it must be a pain replacing them all the time.
@Mobileblaster

@@ctiley2212 yeah they like to keep the info under raps that's totally against my grain. Open policy will win over every time yeah some stuff needs to be kept back to have a business edge but sharing info would easily make the company more credible in my opinion. Even down to the oil grade for the compressor side they don't state this anywhere at all even in the operator manual it refers to doosan seasonal oil not once referring to ios rotary screw 46 oil if anyone is interested its only about 90% cheaper than doosan and basically will do the same job as every other manufacturer reference this for a screw compressor 😂

11:30 Could be 1 of 4 issues: The belt - The wrong size or tension (see below) The Pulley Wheel - Has it been damaged or simply worn ? Wheel alignment- Are both pulleys in alignment if not could be a worn bearing causing it to run offline causing the belts to fray . The Safety Guard -Might be worth looking at the guard in case it’s interfering with the belt in any way bud 👍🏼 Also when refitting a belt makes sure you check the deflection (that’s the distance /measurement movement when you move the belt by hand either side of the centre line ) on the longest run could be it either over tight or under tight. An operators manual should tell you the right measurement .

Do trucks/beds also have sacrificial anodes like on boats to prevent rust? Probably not working for trucks since I never heard of it. Why would that be?

No nether seen a truck with any on and to be fair I'm not saying they don't work but every boat I've blasted seams to rust the same amount all over the boat with or without zinc added you would thort they would be less rust near the zinc but no it's the same

Anodes on Boats work with the reaction of Salt Water causing a small electrical current as the Boat or Ship goes along. Obviously it would be no good on a Vehicle. Excellent video mate.
@peterfrazer1943
@peterfrazer1943 2 жыл бұрын
They do work they put them on Ships, Oil Rig legs, Wind Farms, Pontoons, etc etc. All our boats at the Angling Club have them, it is an essential part. It does not stop rust but it lessens the effect. The anode if working properly rots, that is why they are called Sacrificial Anodes.

Friend of mine here in Los Angeles does mobile blasting. He has some construction and grading companies on-retainer, and he's got it worked in that he can use their red dye farm diesel in his compressor when on-site. He's quite busy, and the retainer fee per month helps him out. Normally he charges a mileage fee on jobs over a certain distance, but with the cost of fuel going up so dear, he's actually turning away jobs that require too much fuel unless the customer either provides fuel outside an estimated cost(unplanned surprises/requests). Now mind you, he's quite busy and all, lots of rental companies needing blasting done, but most are getting wise and ganging up multiple pieces into the same job so there's less overall cost. He does have a minimum job fee though, it's all about time. That small $250 job can take you away from getting the $10,000 big job that comes up rather suddenly. In one of your prior videos you mentioned the 90 day billing cycle. That's quite an extended time, you're not a $250,000 bill to pay out, have you considered a "discount" for faster payment? Even if it's a 50/50 split, at least you get your hard costs like abrasive and fuel covered upfront, then you can wait for the profit to come in a little after. Just a thought :)

@@4570Govt Up until very recently in this country you could use red diesel in construction. The law just changed and now we have to use white diesel, that's the real stinger. Also you may not know this but we pay about twice as much for a gallon of fuel than you do in the states

@@Mobileblaster --- Over time pulleys wear out, the groove gets deeper and deeper, worn grooves wear out the belts in no time. With rooftop A/C units the fan pulleys need to be replaced at regular intervals. Use a pulley groove gauge to check for wear. V-belts should ride at least flush with the top of the pulley and may ride out up to 0.2”. Check for burrs, nicks, gouges and severe scratches as these will drastically reduce belt life. Replace if necessary. My guess is one or more of your compressor's pulleys are worn, the means the belt is too far inside the grooves. Suggestion: buy a pulley groove gauge, it will have many size , I'm in the US, here I can get one for $15 or so. For worn pulleys the only solution is to replace them, until they're changed they will continue to regularly eat belts. Someone else's words "V-Belt sheave wear gauges are something that every floor mechanic and maintenance person should keep handy and have access to. These simple tools provide a simple and fast way of telling if your sheave or pulley needs to be replaced. This set also includes a belt wear measuring tool as well. Manufactured from a high-quality blue plastic material this wear gauge is built for long-term use in even corrosive environments. Keeping a tab on your belt and sheave wear can prevent costly downtime, unnecessary energy consumption, and wear on other components of the system."
