The EG4-LL batteries have a built in pre-charge resistor. Therefore, I turn the breakers to the inverters ON before starting the batteries. Note that the inverters are still turned off but the connection is made via the breaker. If you don't do this, the pre-charge resisters in the batteries become useless and the batteries may then see a connection as a short circuit and fail out. Note: The inverters are off at boot time and you can see me actually turning the inverters on later in the video after the system is booted. I think the reason it failed to boot the 1st two times is that I did not push the buttons on all three batteries at the exact same time and milliseconds in the electronics world are like hours so it acted as if only one battery was used to start it and that's just not enough for these heavy copper wound inverters.

Looks like a nice set up I am so used to blue kit that it's nice to see some nice shiny white kit! PS I would suggest turning on all the batteries first then turning the inverter on last that way you can start to get solar power going in to the batteries which will help Support the inverter surge.

Beautiful set up you have going on there. I also have dual Magnum set up as you do same batteries. I found turning 3 batteries on at once fires my system Every time. Also 2 batteries does not always work.

Precharge resistors are your friend if your batteries don't have precharge resistors built in. 50V to 120V incandescent lamps make good precharge resistors, and let you know when the breakers are safe to close as the lamp will go out. They will also tell you if polarity is reversed depending on inverter internal circuitry (parasitic MOSFET diodes etc.) as the lamp will stay steadily lit, but this can't always be depended on.

You got that exactly right buddy. I filmed this on December 21st 2023. I am far behind on posting. I am actually not even going to edit or post the biggest project that I did last year. I have the next project almost completed and just need to start editing that up. We painted and put a new roof on the house. Now the house looks just like the chicken coop! :)

Looking great! I have the same issue. Panels on the roof and dont get sun till noon due to the tree's😢

I am SO happy that I decided to move this to a ground mount. It is generating a LOT more power. We just got the new roof put on and it looks so good there is no way I would put the solar back up there. The down side is that it does crap up the yard more than I care for and it was more expensive and more work than I counted on for sure... Still, overall, glad I did it. Thanks!

You should turn on all the batteries first so they can share the load of the caps in the inverters. Cheers

^ This. I always turn on my batteries before anything else. I have a 12k LF inverter.

Yes. Inverters should be turned off but not disconnected. Then turn on the battery or batteries to charge up the inverter input capacitors. Then turn on the inverter. A lot of people will charge up the input capacitors with a pre-charge resistor from the battery first before doing the hard-connection from the battery to the inverter, to avoid arcing inside the breakers.

Smart move choosing heavy duty, high surge capacity low frequency, inverters instead of one of those toy, high frequency, low peak power, short lived inverters that everyone else is selling.

@AndyMcBlane No, I would use less, my home lights actually work with 12v, the system has been working for years, homestead engineering actually helped me with this project virtually. I also have a water pumping system that works with 12v, it's a 2 level home and works perfectly...Efficiency is off grids father.

@AndyMcBlane I do use less now, I have a 2 level home, once I remodel the 2 apartments on the first floor, all lighting will be 12v, consuming even less power, doing the same job. Even with today's technology, everyone on this planet couldn't use power like we use it today, it would be unsustainable, this is the reason first world countries keep third world countries in the dark.
