The premix “grout powder” comely know as mud or putty depending on your area is 1/3 whiting 2/3 plaster of Paris with lamp black powder (or liquid). You can use more lamp black to get a darker finish. Then add the linseed oil and mineral spirits. At home patina is Copper sulfate, vinegar with a pinch of salt. You can buy it at Home Depot as root killer or in bulk at any feed lot. It only takes a little. Crystals will stop devolving if you use too much.

Very good video. Can you please tell me is the grout you refer to in the video the same as the grout you normally used to grout tiles or is it your name for lead came cement which consist of whiting and linseed oils.

good video that panel flip made my guts curl up. Is grouting process only to make the panel look aged or are there other reasons to grout?

Grouting is a step that must be done. It's primary purpose is to stiffen the entire panel so that it becomes ridged. It also makes it water tight, that's why linseed oil is added to the recipe.....

Interesting you make your own mixture of grout!..I keep buying ready mixed tubs and the shit goes of before I have a chance to use it all!..Shelf life is too short..I wonder if this powder mix is found in the uk..?

Whiting is the name of. powdered and washed white chalk (calcium carbonate), used in metal polish, putty, and whitewash, to clean glass and sometimes added to paint to improve the paint's opacity.
