On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

The MiG-29 would need a new phased array radar, new ECM suite, new electro-optical sensors, glass cockpit, new weapons computer, INS, GPS, laser rangefinder, refueling probe, and improved engines.

use mig's radar wisely. that number in the middle (6 in your case) is how "far" you want to see (expected target range), so it is a big cone of beam. If you know that target is on your 12, and 100km far, put there at least 50 or more so it will narrow the beam and you will be able to see it and lock it from bigger distance. Also when he is 100km far then extend your radar range scale to 100km (left upper number on).

from what ive read in the manuals, it shouldnt affect the beam, or where the Radar is looking, as long as the radar looks straight ahead. But it does change the ratio of horizontal slur. At the distance put in, one click up or down equals one kilometer height difference.

to understand radar of mig29, i played different situation. when i set ''expected target range'' for exmaple 100km radar antena tilt down or up slightly changes when i set 5km radar antena tilt down or up dramatically. however i couldn't solve what altitude interval scaning according possition of the radar antena because it changes according to expected target range value.i love mig29 but i hate its radar and avionics it is not easy to use like f-15 is.

I'd also love to see some of the Soviet doctrine of launching asymmetric seeker pairs of BVR-AAMs. So take a load out mixture of: R-27EA Extended range active radar seeker R-27ET Extended range IR seeker R-27EP Extended range _passive_ radar seeker (nice radar you have there Mr F-15, shame if you were to... _turn it on_ R-27EM Turbo Extended Range active seeker (>170km) An IR and home-on-radar/jam pair launched nose cold would be exciting to watch!

In my experience getting the seeker on the ET to see the target is somewhat unrelieable, usually you somehow have to get close enough, using terrain cover for a sneak attack or radar missiles beyond their range with launch authority override to push the enemy defensive, then shoot the Fox-2 and go cold, hope they turn back into it.

I love those BVR fights, it's like watching a thriller. You don't even have an RWR notification, but you act anyway because the missal is 99% coming. I can't imagine what real pilots go through when they're engaged like this, it's probably soooo nerve racking! Also, mig's color looks really cool!

It was actually designed to counter the USAF Lightweight Fighter Program, the antithesis of the Eagle. So a blend of F-16/18 would be more apropos in my humble opinion.

Thanks for the comment reply and agreement with my original statement about the LWF program. Lots of people see twin tails and twin non podded engines and say, Same-Same. You put F-15 next to F-18 and the dimension are startling. Eagle is a big beautiful plane, the size of a WWII B-17!

Yeah it makes me wonder the quality of the people that he's flying against he's an excellent player and you need one of the top DCS players to go up against them to get a fair representation in these videos but I do enjoy watching them

@@Irinananana Oh sure, technology matters. The point is though that all that fancy technology doesn't mean a thing if you can't use it well. If both people perform perfectly, the better technology wins, or it's straight up RNG. But since GS's opponent usually makes the bigger mistake, GS can capitalize on it, even if he is flying the notionally inferior aircraft. There are plenty of videos on this channel where the tech mismatch is extreme -- and GS manages to win a majority of the fights anyway. (I-16 dogfights, anyone?) I consider myself an okay sim pilot... but if I had to fight GS for legit stakes? No way in hell, even if I had a F-22 and he had a WWII fighter plane. We've already seen that he can even make that mismatch a difficult fight.

You should do the US vs Russia thing again but with the rule that you can't choose the same jet twice so it's more interesting. Do like 5 or 6 rounds so you can have different engagements. Also make it bandit unknown so you have to choose your jet carefully.

Any similar (4/4++ gen.) aircraft will be a challenge for it, that's obvious, but tbh the F-16 should be the main MiG-29 contender. You know that the 29 was developed to counter the FFalcon. But it's nice too see it facing a heavier adversary, yeah. Thumbs up!

So this MAR thing, could you, as in the MiG, start low, point your nose up, accelerate hard as you can and _lob_ missiles up into the thin air? Like, try to use ballistics. Missile go up, missile come down fast. As I mentioned in a different reply comment, it would be really interesting to see some Soviet doctrine where you launch R-27 pairs with asymmetric seekers, a fox-2 and and fox-3. Or even the passive radar seeker R-27, if he's got a big noisy radar or jammers on it'll home in on that. Maybe even quietly while he's avoiding a fox-3. Maybe even send them on two different ballistic paths.

Ya you could do that but you’d lose a lot of your speed in the climb and you’ve burn a crap ton of your fuel down low getting super fast so you could make that climb in the first place

MiG-29S (9-13S) is the third serial modification for the Soviet Air Force. The range of weapons includes new RVV-AE medium-range guided missiles, and the radar has a mode of simultaneous attack of two air targets. The mass of the combat load has been increased to 4000 kg. The tests were completed in September 1991. 16 MiG-29S fighters produced in 1992-1993 were the last aircraft of this type to enter service with domestic aviation. This was due to the termination of the purchase of MiG-29 aircraft by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Indian mig-29’s are considered the most upgraded versions of the mig-29. They’re considered India’s last line of air defense but they are very capable fighters

In the TacView analysis, GS explains how you always want to get into denser air, to drag missiles into denser air, to give yourself a better chance to defeat them. I entirely agree with the assessment made by GS. Here's what's strange... Back when Iraq still had an air force and that air force was still willing to fight- now and then- rather than running away from each engagement, it was reported that Iraqi pilots would- upon being illuminated by radar on allied aircraft- immediately drop to treetop altitude. It was *further* reported that this behaviour confused allied pilots, with them joking that perhaps the Iraqi pilots thought that allied aircraft had poor look-down-shoot-down capabilities (which was the case, at the time, with many Soviet aircraft). Such rumination made it clear that these allied pilots didn't understand why Iraqi pilots were so apt to do this. I'm not a pilot, but after watching an insane number of GS videos, I would think that the behaviour of the Iraqi pilots makes perfect sense from the point of view of pilots who wanted to have the best chance at defeating the missiles that were undoubtedly racing towards them.

the MiG-29 has those RD-33 engines that output about 18000 pounds of thrust in Full AB. combined with the low weight of the Fulcrums chassis it can have some crazy acceleration when used efficiently and effectively

"cold" / "hot" / "flanking" refer to your flight path relative to the bandit's position, or theirs relative to you.

When you fight on the deck (last part of this duel) and you can hear (RWR) that the missile is fired against and you want to run away would it be wise to start claiming fast? Missile's rocket motor should be burned out by that time? Could this save the F-15 in the last moment?

If you climb you’re helping it’s range the thinner the air the more the range. It would have to be super slow for you to be able to climb to defend it, in which case who cares do anything else it’s already super slow.

the mig 29 has tws and tws2 mode as well as you can point the radar at least up and down i dont know if side to side works. as well as you can change the pulse frequency from medium to hi. i think a modernized mig 29 would at least have datalink, it could be the same thing the su27 has on the right lil tv thing in the cockpit that is the same thing as the hud in the mig29

Please, Ace Combat physics are good enough but not indicative of the real vehicle. PSMs are not real. AOA is non-existent. Turn rate is too high. Flying a plane in ace combat is the same as driving a car in GTA. It's very similar but it's very far from reality. Also if this comment is a joke I'll take the L.

To WHICH air force? To USA's Air Force? Unlikely, if for no other reasons than the lack of qualified Mig 29 pilots comparable in training to USA's pilots. With USA' pilots flying them, perhaps. With standard under-trained Russian pilots, not a chance in Hell.

It seems to be. I don’t think it has ever been used by a real Tomcat pilot in an actual engagement, or even in practice, but if DCS is as good as we all think it is at simulating actual flight physics, then it does seem to give the Tomcat a pretty substantial benefit in BFM. Growlingsidewinder just recently posted a video of him using differential thrust in a Tomcat while dogfighting, and a couple other planes, and it made a much larger difference than I expected.

Look at his last few videos, he’s done a bunch on the F-14 and experimenting with differential thrust. It’s actually a fairly effective addition to BFM if performed correctly on a jet in which the dual engines are far enough for it to make a substantial difference.

DCS is just a simulation, albeit own regarded as one of the best simulations. Nothing can simulate perfectly but DCS is about as close as they can get afaik.

Well I didn’t change, nato (us) use imperial and everyone else uses metric. So it’s not really my choice it’s the native language of the aircraft itself. Hope that makes sense.
