Im also guilty. Ditched the nearly new spitfires for R35 spark plugs, super thech valve springs, tomei poncam b, PRP RBpro crank trigger, which piston material to choose, oil control and lots more. the sine drive pump. I already had a brand new nitto oilpump, but i bought this one, just because its better. I took their tips as guideline. I also made my self a torque plate, just because Herman recommended it. Since Andrew has been so successful with is RB build, i try to use a much parts of is parts list and listen to his, Hermans, Jims or Scotts advices ( beside single turbo, because im keeping the twins) in hopes that my RB build is as good as it could be. The amount of parts there are available for these rb engines is just unreal,lots of R&D,money and testing time involved especially at such a high performance level.Great stuff,here in belgium the early gen gtr like r32 33 34 are pretty rare, i know of one persone who used to own a 600 hp r32 and i ones saw a 4 door for sale but thats a long time ago.I think the import cost from Japan to Belgium is a bit high😅 and driving a RHD car here in dense traffic and small roads is not ideally,you really don't see much imported RHD cars here like in other countries,i wonder if there are any LHD conversions for these gtr's with parts from other nissans?

Interesting to see a different take. I would have thought a sine wave drive would introduce significantly more hoop stress than a regular toothed spline drive, as the main drive force interface appears to be about 70 degrees from tangential so significantly more force is trying to "expand" the pump gear than is trying to rotate it. Obviously not an issue here or they wouldn't have done it but I imagine there were some constraints for their "one pump fits all" approach that led them down this path. I would be very interested to hear why they took this approach over a conventional spline. My guess is they wanted this to accept far more crank runout than the spline design would allow, without taking a lot of meat out of the gear to accommodate the large spline teeth that would be required.

NiveusLuxLucis certainly tested to 1200hp on an RB30 also at 11k rpm during our own test on RB26. There is no reason why it cannot go to 1400/1500 hp. Used countless times in drifting and drag in Russia also sold world wide since 2014. We have had zero reported gear failures which is a testimony to the strength of the spline drive. We cover most RB oil pumps. They simply work as intended.

More great aussie tech. However I can't imagine building a +700kW turbo engine for motorsports use that doesn't use a dry sump. With the cost of everthing else in such an enngine, another $5-6k on a drysump is cheap insurance.
@Baksteen_Express
@Baksteen_Express 4 жыл бұрын
Dry sump uses a lot more space and adds weight though, even though you can move the engine lower to lower the centre of gravity. But I agree that something that makes about a 1000hp which isn't a LS should have a dry sump if possible.
@MotiveVideo
@MotiveVideo 4 жыл бұрын
Hear what you're saying but 8.4 and 1300+hp on a wet sump with WARGTR should be enough proof, let alone the copious amounts of 1000+hp GT-Rs built by Maatouks, B2R, MSM, CRD etc in Australia. All wet sump and Nitto pump, mostly the two flats style.
@manitoublack
@manitoublack 4 жыл бұрын
@@MotiveVideo Thanks for the response. And I understand why it’s done (cost and complexity.) But at these power levels (if it were my engine) its not the pump that worries me (speaking as a circuit racer.) Consider: In an 8.5second pass, even the highest flowing oil pump (say 50L/min) is only going to be able to pump a little over 7L. So, with a large enough sump, you can’t run dry and are unlikely to have froth issues in such a short time. Nor is oil temp going to play a significant factor. There are also no lateral loads, so the sump baffles can be designed for acceleration only. All that’s needed is a pump that wont fail (and we’ve got that covered.) Conversely, in circuit racing (time attack is just a fancy name for qualifying) where g-loads are high, you’re at it lap after lap (sometimes for hours,) oil temps need to be managed, …. This is where you need more than just a strong pump, you need a lubrication system that can cope with all those rigours, which is why dry sumps are popular here (obviously.) There are also the performance advantages of pulling a vacuum in the crank case, as a result of less windage. (This is where my comment was more focused.) Fortunately, here in Australia we’re blessed with amazing companies (Ross Performance for example) who make some of the best kits in the business. Also please tell Heman to develop a 1-piece SR20 main cap girdle and drysump pan 😁. the current main cap girdle is awesome, but that would be next level and very tempting for my circuit car. Regards Jordan

@@manitoublack Trust me, I'd love to get a dry sump in my GT-R (if I had one). But one of the biggest problems of trying to get a dry sump in a street application is finding space in the engine bay where to mount the tank which is what I would prefer. But from all the pictures I've seen of the engine bay, I don't think any off-the-shelf dry sump tank is going to fit, even the really small-diameter, super-tall tanks look like they won't fit.
