Actually the fastest 2012 gtr cost $160k this was actually a base model gtr verses the fastest vette you can buy besides a zr1 and the fastest street legal mustang. Face it a base model gtr spanked the best and second best America had that year. Period.

But if you took the GT-R out for test drive and then took the ZO6 for a ride you would definitely choose the ZO6 it's way more fun to drive in fact of the three cars hands down it's more fun to drive and as far as horsepower because of the weight the ZO6 definitely feels much more punchy then the other two cars hands down because I drove them all.

Secondly, I don't think that an all wheel drive mustang would have the same appeal in the current market. It would make for better launches and lap times, but would also take away from the Mustang swagger; the sort of cautiously reckless nature that is its appeal.

This Vette as tested according to the actual article cost $98,010 the GTR was $90,950......So 8k LESS and performs BETTER. With BETTER fuel economy to boot. And you dont even want to look at Nurburgring times. Its embarrassing what we Americans consider Super cars or even. FAST cars. Maybe one day we will step it up. the new stingray looks like it has some promise.

I admit the GT-R doesnt have a lot of personality; it is pure, cold calculating efficiency and speed, without much effort put into its looks and sound. Marcello Wheeler I'd much rather have a really sorted chassis than power that i can't safely use. In reviews i've seen of this car they remarked that they used worse, more out of date suspension than even the regular mustang, but gave it way more power, which makes no sense. They were spinning out in it constantly, So hard to keep it going the direction you want when driving fast. Kind of takes the point out of an expensive sports car when you can't drive it like a sports car without wrapping it around a telephone pole.

The thing about the GTR is it has so much grip and it uses the power it has very very effectively a lot like the 911 turbo. The mustang is overpowered and it's also the same car that comes with a v6 and a $20k price tag. Not even in the same league as a GTR. My opinion shouldn't even be compared to each other but very often they are due to the 662hp the stang is packing

This review was with a 2011 Ford Shelby GT500. The 2011 did not have the 662HP 5.8 engine.The first car to have that was the 2013. The GTR wins if the race is from a stand still. That is because it is AWD. It puts down the power all at once and fluidly. From a rolling start of just 30 MPH the 2013 Shelby is faster than the GTR. I have seen a video of this and have tested it with my own Shelby and a friends GTR.

Yes I realize the blown 5.8 wasn't released til 2013 that was an oversight on my part .this was a continuation of another conversation rocket and I were having. The GTR is a great car but I prefer American muscle. I don't care which is faster. The awd and launch control give an advantage to the Nissan that's hard to overcome.Just for fun I raced a GTR with my CTS-V my car runs 11.15 1/4 mile on spray. He ran a 10.70 with launch control so I lost. It's fun to me though I don't have to be the fastest I just love to participate

Ken R Ford doesn't build Mustangs to compete with Corvettes, that is why a Corvette will post quicker lap times. As a "Ford fanboy" the only thing that matters is that Mustang is beating Camaro plain and simple. And as a long time reader of MT I have noticed the fact that no matter what they pit the Corvette up against, even if it loses in all tests somehow it is always declared the winner.

Jose Pena The Nissan GTR and the Toyota Supra are probably the best all around cars ever made, I can agree on that. They are (relatively) affordable (compared to cars with the same performance), They are track monsters, insanely fast, they can be modded easily, and they can perform in basically any category. But they fall short when you want a more specific type of car unless you tune them alot. They fall behind considerably in drag racing against cheaper custom rides and even cheap muscle cars, long distance racing and touring they are prone to overheating and blown trannys (even with their legendary reliability), and on the track you can definitely find something better (although I admit it will probably at double or triple the price, okay I admit on the track you can't really beat the GTR without real big boy $ lol). BTW the Ford Mustang Cobrajet can go 0-60 in 1.52 seconds and 0-100 in a little over 3 seconds (and at only $98k for the 2014 model). Sooo yea Ford once again proved that it's the king of the Drag strip (at least for non custom vehicles).

Im a GTR nut, but i reckon, that vette is also one of a kind, and can also be classified as a super car. Ceramic brakes, low slung suspension and the horsepower to back it up. Its an awesome car. I reckon its based on the preference more than anything else, they are just too close in overall performance. At the end of the day, these are the cars that end up destroying rich (non car enthusiast) blokes who drive ferraris and lambos. Really cant wait to see a Nismo GTR up against a C7 Zr1.

Why would you ever pit a Nismo GTR against any kind of Corvette from Chevrolet? The only Vette that you should ne comparing a Nismo to is the Pratt and Miller C6RS. TBH, if the C7 ZR1 is putting down the same kind of numbers that a car built from a GT race team is, then something either went really right for the Vette, or really wrong for the GTR.
