To attempt to summarize the accomplishments, accolades, and experience of Gustavo Cecchini of GTC Knives would take me 2 hours. In these 18 minutes, I attempt to explain why Gus is one of the living legends of modern folding knives, and show off two spectacular pieces!

I've been drawn to his knives from the beginning of my getting seriously into knives. He definitely has a style that is his own and unlike anyone else. I enjoyed this video a great deal.

At the beginning of the video I thought I was looking at two fixed blades! The way he hid the pivot pins is awesome, super creative and what beautiful blades! Sweet video!😁🍻

Hold on, so it’s done with a CNC, but we’re supposed to let the detent rock be fine because they’re “art?” Yeah the outside is pretty, but the inside mechanics is a simple liner lock. Not sure how it’s acceptable, especially for how much they cost.

A small amount of detent play can be found on many custom knives. I mention it as a caution to those who feel these are mechanical flaws.

Agree man. We have to hold these guys accountable no matter what. Especially if A. they charge a ridiculous amount and B. they use waterjet and/or CNC and in this case GTC is both A & B. Anyone with the machinery can copy and paste their cnc design over and over.. the word "custom" has lost its true meaning in my opinion. Good makers out there, (GTC is still one of them) but as the consumer, we should start pushing for getting our moneys worth.. as the custom knife world is only getting more expensive.

Gus is an amazing maker. I believe Bob Terzuola once mentioned that if he had to collect knives from one maker, he would have a collection of GTC knives. As a makers he he is easy to reach and very willing to take care of you.

GTC knives are really bad ass but i just can't see paying these prices just because of who made it.. i don't understand why these makers have to charge 2k pluss for a frame lock...
@WillEDC
@WillEDC 4 жыл бұрын
TBH, I’ve seen some knives on his IG that I thought was overboard meaning the materials didn’t quite match each other. More like to be over exotic to justify the price it seems. I think these pair are nicer. I wish he would collab with Reate or ckf. ZT seems to make knives look very cheap. I don’t know why.

I've always been fascinated by his designs, and appreciate the work. But personally, just never found it compelling.

Those are hideous. Years from now we'll all look back and wonder why everyone found these kinds of garish and loud designs so appealing.
@DoctorFrunkey
@DoctorFrunkey 4 жыл бұрын
I recognize that these designs are not going to appeal to everyone. But I disagree with your statement about the future perspective. Gus's designs are unrelentingly unique, and demonstate amazing craftsmanship and ingenuity. If you do not like the knife because of the way it looks, you are not understanding its intent.
@davidmarshall7752
@davidmarshall7752 4 жыл бұрын
@@DoctorFrunkey No I got that from your review and respect the maker very much for his bold choices and innovative breakthroughs. I just don't want to own one. And the garishness is in many knives, not just these. I've seen enough Mokuti, cheesy hamons, orange peel, and bad Damascus for a lifetime.
